If you have read the first book Mercury Falls than the second installment is a must read. MERCURY RISES takes up after the apocalypse has been stopped and all evil has been stopped or so we think. Our delightful Mercury once again begins another adventure. This time a crazed billionaire plots to discover the secrets of the universe. Add in the FBI agent who somehow gets himself mixed up in it all and watch the chaos begins. Will Mercury be able to save the world before Horace brings down the universe?
This is a great book full of funny characters and an exciting pot line. Mercury is great; I love his sense of humor. This book had me laughing out loud. Not only at Mercury's wit but at other's as well. As we travel from Kenya to California and Babylonia we cannot help but cheer on the characters and hope that Mercury and his friends stop Horace. All the references to modern pop culture also help add a quarky lightness to the dark topics within the series, making this book fun and easy read that keeps your attention rather than droning on and on about facts and figureheads that may become boring.
MERCURY RISES comes with a little of everything from science fiction to history to biblical lore. Gabrielle Lee does a good job of bringing all the elements together making the reader enjoy the ride. I hope that we do not have to wait too long for the third book of this trilogy to come out. I think that this book caters to a certain kind of reader but if you enjoy satire this book may be for you.
Well, the apocalypse may have been postponed in Mercury
Falls, but there are still worlds (upper and under) of
trouble awaiting reporter Christine Temetri , fallen angel
Mercury, and a host of other otherworldly creatures in the
new adventures of the corporation known as Heaven and the
agents know as angels. This time, there are some ancient
Egyptians thrown in the mix for good measure, as the author
once again hold up a mirror to modern society and exposes
all the foibles and silliness that make up life in the 21st
century. A fun, humorous, fast paced read.
