Bounty hunter Anna Strong, also known as the chosen one and head of the vampires tribes, is still dealing with the death of her dear friend and the betrayal of someone close to her. Anna's not really in the mood for Chael, her arch enemy until he tells her there is a Shaman who can reverse her vampirism. Despite her skepticism, Anna feels it is worth a shot and contacts her shapeshifter friend Frey who is part Navajo. As they journey to the reservation they each have very personal reasons for going. Anna in the hopes of becoming normal again and Frey wants to see his son. They receive a cold welcome, especially Anna because the Navajo despise vampires.

Not too long after their arrival Anna is attacked by a skinwalker, those who can take the shape of any animal. They get the poison out of her but then receive more bad news. Frey's ex-wife was killed on her way to talk to the council about Anna seeing the Shaman. Now Anna is pissed and whoever is responsible better look out because she intends to punish whoever is responsible.

CROSSROADS is a welcome addition in the Anna Strong series. Anna continues to evolve into who she was meant to be without losing her humanity. She is a charmingly fun heroine until you come up on her bad side then she becomes a kickass heroine readers will delight in. You can't help but love her loyalty to her friends and her acceptance of her birthright. CROSSROADS will take readers on some twist and turns that won't let you put this book down until the very end and then you will be hungry for the next installment. Each character fulfills their purpose and readers will be surprised at some revelations that are revealed. Keep them coming Ms. Stein, I am sure there are more adventures ahead of Anna and I can't wait to come along for the ride.
