The U.S. border at San Diego gets a lot of business with
people crossing to and from Tijuana. Rookie border patrol
agent Valentine Pescatore is a street-smart show off. He is
arrogant but secretly a softy when it comes to families
illegally crossing the border. He sends them back to Mexico
but puts a small lump in their pockets before doing so. His
supervisor is a hardened man who plays a nightly quota game
and demands his team play along. Sometimes, he gets a
little too rough with the detainees.
Valentine's life takes a twist after an illegal and
unsanctioned chase into Mexico that consequently turns him
from border patrol officer into a wanted man. Valentine
assists his
supervisor with a special mission, to help a Mexican Colonel
make safe passageway across the border. The Colonel is
setup by his countrymen and finds himself in the middle of
gunfire between the Mexican Police and the border patrol.
Someone from his side kills him. Valentine's supervisor, who
says he is about to go down for illegal activities, demands
he accompany him into Mexico, but a cop kills the armed
border patrol agent and Valentine is pegged for the
shooting. When a Mexican gang who has done business with
his supervisor finds him, one of them recognizes him as the
agent who gave him money before sending him back to Mexico.
He joins the group and gains their trust. He feels
betrayed by a woman and now part of a family; he
participates in the group's illegal ventures.
Isabel Puente, a U.S. federal agent, works with Leobardo
Mendez, commander of the Diogenes Group, a Mexican law
enforcement agency, in a joint effort to fight crime.
Isabel meets Valentine and falls for him, but she also has a
sharp eye and a gut feeling that Valentine is a good guy.
Knowing that he has met the Mexicans who work for a corrupt
Mexican police commander, she wants him to help her. Mendez
doesn't trust Valentine and thinks that Isabel is blind from
love. Valentine is a wanted man in Mexico and they will
shoot to kill if they come upon him.
The Mexicans and Valentine make their way the Triple
Crossing, the junction where Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina
meet. They seek refuge with one of the biggest drug cartel
leaders in South America. Here Valentine must make
decisions that will affect him the rest of his life.
TRIPLE CROSSING is an intense story written by Sebastian
Rotella, a journalist turned fiction writer who has years of
experience working the Mexican and South American beat.
Sharp characters and a razor edge plot explode on the pages
of TRIPLE CROSSING to deliver a thoroughly rewarding
fictional journey into the turmoil of the drug cartel and
the men and women who fight the fight.
