Chapman's time traveling Highlanders are sure to never let
you down! MYSTICAL WARRIOR was no exception to the rule. I
have followed Chapman's time travelers series since book
one and I have never been disappointed.
Simply amazing every time.
MYSTICAL WARRIOR is part of the
Midnight Bay series. The difference here is that the main
characters have been trapped in animal form and are now
attempting to adapt to living as a human hundreds of years
later. I found that Fiona was a very touching character,
the way that she was able to find her way in a new life,
find strength within herself, and turn a house into a home
was something that every woman aspires to. Her
continual struggles with trusting someone again was also
something that most readers can relate to. Trace was also a
wonderful main man, even though he was not a Highlander as
the other men wanted him to be. I found that his trials,
concerns, and outrage at being taken over were true to
life. I was able to see the anger on his face and his
frustration as his home was changed bit-by-bit. I loved the
fact that he became lost in the neatness that was Fiona.
The storyline alone was enough to keep me intrigued; I
simply love Chapman's writing. The way that she is able to
involve previous characters, add on to their stories, and
maintain a new story at the same time is magic to a
reader. While the struggles of the two main characters
remained as the main plot, I simply love all the little
treasures that Chapman gives us to wonder about. The added
element of another wizard, who is anything but a
simple wizard, keeps me wondering just when Max will be
able to tell his own tale. Chapman is able to satisfy the
reader with the story, yet keep them longing for the rest
of the story at the same time. I look forward to her next
exciting addition to this spectacular series!
Fiona Gregor has conformed to life as a hawk and has not
had to deal with the tragedies that struck her in younger
years. Struggling to adapt to life on her own, Fiona finds
the freedoms that she has longed for. Fiona is willing and
able to take control of any stray she may find along her
way. From dogs and chickens, to goats and children, Fiona's
apartment is fairly bursting with love. But can she open
her trust and her heart to a stray man whose house she is
making into a home?
Trace has had his fair share of heartache. Keeping himself
and his business afloat requires long hours and little time
to look after wayward sisters of his friends. So just how
did he manage to get stuck with Fiona? The woman is
confounding, taking in every stray on the block and having
yet another suitor waiting around every corner. Trace can't
find his coffee pot let alone the peace and quiet he used
to have. The more she does the more ground he seems to be
losing, every second Fiona seems to be on his mind. Can he
live without all the changes she has made in his life? More
importantly can he live without her?
An eleventh-century lass with a stubborn streak unleashes
the red-hot hero inside her modern lover in bestselling
author Janet Chapman’s irresistible new Midnight Bay adventure.
Trace Huntsman’s peaceful life has headed to hell in a
hand-basket ever since stunningly beautiful Fiona Gregor
moved into the vacant apartment above his house. Kidnapped
centuries earlier and transformed into a red-tail hawk,
Fiona is human once more and must learn how to be a modern
woman. But damned if Trace is going to be the one to teach
her. Not when her mere presence ignites a fiery passion deep
within his cautious heart.
Fiona longs to overcome the painful memories of her tragic
past—to let down her guard and become a mother again. But so
far her handsome landlord is not exactly thrilled with the
stray animals—and suitors—that keep following her home. When
the wizard Maximilian Oceanus shows up, Trace reaches the
end of his rope. Weird things happen when Mac is
around—raging storms, snarling demons—but this time,
Midnight Bay is at the center of a fierce battle, and Fiona
is the primary target. Only Trace can save her, but first,
the lovers must set aside their fears . . . and open up
their hearts.
