Romance Paranormal

Author Michelle Rowen has taken a new step in the vampire world with this new book, her second in the series, BLOODLUST. A real page turner, I found that I never put the book down! From page one until the end I never escaped the world Rowen created. BLOODLUST had me spellbound and on the edge of my seat through the entire thing! I loved how Rowen's vampires were not all created equal and that the bad boys were even badder in love than out of it.

The plot began with the appearance of the 'dead king' and only thickened into its own twisting monster as the story went along. I never knew where Rowen would take me next, and that was only one of the good parts! The main character, Jillian Conrad, was injected with Nightshade a serum that was as irresistible to vampires as it was deadly. One bite and death was certain. Just who it worked on and whom it didn't was yet to be tested. The allure that Jill presented was phenomenal! Jill was a very strong character, never quite sure if her choices were the right ones. Jill would fight to keep those she cares for alive no matter the consequences. I fell in love with Declan just as much as Matthias. Both men were quick to defend Jill, yet each had their own hidden agendas as well. I was never quite sure which side they were on and that only made them more exciting.

The story centers on Jillian and her attempts at combating the poison in her blood. While Nightshade is deadly to vampires, it seems to have devastating effects on Jill's body as well. Suffering from intense pain, blackouts, and bouts of bleeding, Jill knows that her time is about up if a cure cannot be found. Running from motel to motel, Jill's whole life has been turned upside down in two short weeks, but it feels like a million years have passed since she was normal. Her only friends left alive and helping have come down to Noah, the geeky medical guy, and Declan, a half- vampire half-human. Declan has issues of his own as he struggles to control the rage of a dhampyr. If he cannot find a way to control himself he will become the very monster that he has fought to kill.

As if that wasn't enough, we cannot forget about the little problem of the vampire king that Jill killed with her blood. When Matthias suddenly appears back in her life things start to get a little complicated. I mean he's supposed to be dead, right? And really, Jill can't love a vampire....nah it has to be just a simple case of lust; make that a whole lotta lust. That is just the beginning of the dangers that lie ahead. The powers that be are after immortality, and they are willing to sacrifice to get it. These are dark times and to survive a girl just has to get even darker.
