Women's Fiction

Eleanor Levine returns to Ireland after leaving it over seventy years ago. She rents a ground level apartment in beautiful Golden Square where she can watch life go by from her window. She's come to her homeland seeking healing after her husband passed away. As she watches from her window, she's curious about the stories of some of the residents she sees around Golden Square. After years of trying to be noticed, Megan Flynn just wants to disappear. The up-and-coming actress has an affair with an older, well-known actor, and it's been splashed across all the gossip magazines. Her career could be ruined. The paparazzi are going wild with this fiasco. She disappears to her Aunt Nora's on Golden Square, where no one really knows her. Will her life ever be the same again? Does she want it to be? Rea Kerrigan manages Titania's Palace Tea Room on Golden Square. She's happily married, loves her job and her volunteering efforts at Community Cares. She is loved by everyone who comes into the tea palace. But when a letter comes from the home for unwed mothers seeking to reunite her with the child she gave up for adoption forty years ago, her world is shattered. She never told her husband or grown son. Will they still love her when they find out? Connie O'Callaghan is turning forty soon and is not content with her single life. She's mourned the loss of her relationship with Kevin for ten years. Is she resigned to being an old-maid school teacher? Is there anyone who could ever meet the standards she has set for a husband? Eleanor is a retired psychoanalyst. As she watches these three women from her window, she becomes interested in their stories and gets involved in their lives. As she talks to each woman, trying to help them get through their personal crisis, she realizes that she too needs help to get past her loss. All four women are stuck in the past, running away. The trouble with running away from your troubles is that your troubles always come with you. Cathy Kelly has masterfully woven the lives of these four women together and pulls you right in with them. HOMECOMING is a heart-warming story about love, friendship and finding peace in the midst of the storms of life. I'm a fan!

SUMMARY

Eleanor Levine left Ireland 70 years ago with little more than a suitcase and her mother's handwritten recipe book. Now, a lifetime later, she's returning from New York with hard-won wisdom and memories of her own.
