The latest in the Code Name Danger series, once again the operatives of OMEGA are called in by the US President to make sure nothing goes wrong as the nuclear weapons inspections take place. The president used a lot of political capital to push the latest arms reduction treaty through and nothing must be allowed to cause it to be derailed.
Major Larissa Petrovna is part of the Russian inspector's team. A beautiful woman marred only by the burns on her face and neck, her military career is the only thing that kept her going after her husband died in a fire. That and her daughter keep her moving forward. As she enters the base in Wyoming, she hears a voice that brings back memories of the fire.
She intrigues Agent Sloan "Dodge" Hamilton but not as much as her reaction to the voice she heard that day. As he investigates the identity of the man behind the voice, he is struck by the strength she has and not just by her beauty. Even as Larissa resists Dodge, she finds herself warmed by his concern for her.
As the danger escalates, Larissa will find that Dodge is the only one who can save her.
Tautly written and well-plotted, Lovelace fans won't be disappointed. It was hard to warm up to Larissa at first since she hides all emotion beneath a brusque tone of voice and a stoic face. But the fireworks between Dodge and Larissa will make up for that initial impression.
