Mystery Woman Sleuth

Abby severely sprained her ankle falling off a pair of extremely high heels. Marco has been notified that he may be called back to active duty in the Rangers. In anticipation of that event, he has hired an old friend to cover the bar while he is gone. Vlad is an old Army Ranger buddy and completely trustworthy in Marco's eyes. The rest of the world sees him differently. Vlad has long canine teeth, pale skin, and the fact that he is never seen during the day leads to rumors that he is a vampire. He asks Abby to order a large number of unusual plants including dandelions. When asked for his reasons, he evades answering the question. Vlad is a charming man who attracts the attention of all the women and he becomes very popular the female patrons at Down the Hatch. When a woman is found dead, drained of blood, Vlad becomes a person of interest. The fact that he was supposed to have dinner with the victim the night she disappeared and his refusal to say where he was lead to his arrest. Now, Marco and Abby must spend their last two weeks together investigating the murder. Abby's ankle is a problem since she must use crutches or a wheelchair. She and Marco ask a lot of questions which leads to even more suspects. Abby's cousin, Jillian believes she is a vampire and starts acting strange. Her niece and her friends, set up a protective perimeter around Down the Hatch to protect Vlad from the press. When Marco is called up unexpectedly, Abby will have to face the killer alone. Fans of the Flower Shop Mysteries won't want to miss the latest installment in the series. Highly entertaining and full of quirky characters, this series keeps the reader looking forward to the next episode.

SUMMARY

When a stranger comes into my flower shop and orders bloodwort, Dracula orchid, devil's tongue, and strangleweed, I can't help but wonder... Is There a Vampire in Town? After spraining an ankle, flower shop owner Abby Knight is forced to get around on crutches. But what will she do for emotional support now that her fiance, Marco, is being called back to active duty? Before Marco leaves, he's determined to clear the name of his old army buddy Vlad Serban - who everyone thinks is a vampire...and responsible for the death of local nursing director Lori Willis. Lori's Body was found drained of blood. And Vlad is from Romania, has prominent canines, likes bizarre plants, and dresses in black. Abby herself has doubts when the evidence against Vlad piles up. But, as the women of New Chapel either swoon over Vlad or picket to throw him out of town, and Abby's cousin Jillian becomes convinced Vlad has turned her into a creature of the night, Abby realizes she's got to trust Marco's judgment abuot his friend. Soon, hte stakes become literally life or death as Marco and Abby race to shed light on who killed Lori, before Vlad's life starts to really suck...
