Childrens

This children's book was a great read. My young son and I had a nice time reading this book together. Not only was it funny but it also had enough gross things in it to keep his attention. It is nice to see a book that will not only keep kids attention but it also makes them want to read more. How can kids, especially boys, pass up aliens, slime and the golden nose hair? This may be a graphic-type novel but it is from Scholastic so parent can be assured that it is a good book.

Philot and Huxley must go on an adventure after they forget to return a video game and the aliens send the grim reaper after them to retrieve the game. He in turn sends them to another realm where we find the sea of bees, transforming pirates, and many other interesting things. When the two boys finally defeat the aliens, they are once again sent to another realm. From there we must wait for their next adventure to see if they can eventually find their way home.

Along with great color drawings, there is a lot of dialogue in this book. So the children are not only looking at pictures but they are also reading and enjoying it. As a parent myself, this is a big plus. We all want our children to read and we want them reading good material.

THE FIRST ADVENTURE PILOT & HUXLEY by DAN McGUINESS is a great book that will get children enjoying reading. I have to say, even my teenager enjoyed this book. I hope that we continue to see more of the adventures of Philot and Huxley.
