Allie Beckstrom knows the havoc that magic can cause. Her short term memory is shot and the aches and pains she has to live with testify of the consequences a magic user can face.
The Authority comes to Allie and Zayvion to let them know that their help will be needed to face the storm that is coming. A magic storm of such magnitude that all of Portland could be destroyed, if they don't work together to divert it. Allie has to deal with her father's presence inside her mind. Then Greyson, one of her father's killers escapes from the jail that they have used to hold him. There are creatures coming out of gates that shouldn't exist and she still has to watch out for her hounds. Her step-mother has been assaulted and items of great interest to the Authority have gone missing.
The last thing that Allie needs is the conflict within the Authority to escape at the height of the storm; but that is just what happens. Now, Allie will have to learn who she can trust and use all of the tools at her disposal to fight the sabotage and betrayal from within the Authority. She will even have to let her father help her when she leasts wants to lose control.
Ms. Monk has continued the stories of Allie Beckstrom with an engrossing read that will take the urban fantasy lover even deeper into her world. This is one author that I recommend frequently to people and MAGIC ON THE STORM is a worthy addition to the series.
