Officer Angela Giacomelli is no longer part of the Baltimore City Police Force. After suffering violence at the hands of a man she was supposed to put away, she was left for dead. Without remorse, her friends and fellow officers allowed it to happen. She terminates the man responsible for taking her soul, as well as trafficking children, yet no one stands by her side to show support. She now finds herself on a bus heading to prison for life without parole. To her shock, Angela's journey is cut short when a team of men from the secret group L.O.S.T. help her escape and offer the opportunity to join them with the new name of Jax Cassidy.

Marcus Cross is a killer without a future; only a tortured past that includes the tragic deaths of everyone important to him. During his adolescence, Marcus was a trouble maker; as an adult, he is an elite soldier for the armed forces, until fate takes over and he's left for dead following an operation in Afghanistan. He is now stronger and meaner than ever, but still doing his part in ridding the world of terrorists out to destroy humanity. Marcus' commander becomes outraged when he learns their operations will no longer be sanctioned by the government. Then all hell breaks loose, forcing them to take action. In a dark and glitzy night club where he plans to carry out a job, Marcus runs into an intriguing woman named Jax, who's determined to take his glory.

SUMMARY

When you have no alternative, then you call in L.O.S.T. Because with the Last Option Special Team, itโ€™s do or die. . . .

Itโ€™s Jax Cassidyโ€™s first mission for L.O.S.T.โ€”one that will give the former cop who went rogue a chance to prove herself. Her assignment: gain the trust of assassin Marcus Cross . . . eliminate him . . . then take down Marcusโ€™s mentor, Joseph Lazarus, a man with a bold eye on the White House. But the woman whoโ€™s known by her team for being a femme fatale succumbs to passion, only to discover Crossโ€™s deadly secret. Heโ€™s a vampire, and Joseph Lazarus is his creator.

Left for dead by his platoon in the violent hills of Afghanistan, Special Ops sniper Marcus Cross was given a second chance at life. His newly heightened skills make him the perfect killing machine, and as Lazarusโ€™s right-hand man, heโ€™s quickly rising to the top of his dark empire, purging enemies with speed and precision. Only when dangerous beauty Jax Cassidy is sent to bring him in does he begin to question Lazarusโ€™s motives and his own actions. But when Jaxโ€™s life is threatened by the one thing that can destroy them both, Marcus must make a bitter choiceโ€”her death or his.

EXCERPT

"Come at me again, I'm going to hurt you," he growled low. Collecting herself and her thoughts, Jax considered her current tactics. They werenโ€™t working. She was strong. He was stronger. She eyed him covertly from beneath her long dark lashes. Power radiated off him in waves. He reminded her of a big, sleek, predatory panther. From his stylishly cut, jet-black hair, his arresting, predatory face, and full mocking lips, to his impeccable black suit and the way it hung effortlessly from his big muscular body, down to his custom black leather Italian shoes, she didnโ€™t miss a thing. Most especially the harsh glint of his unusual blue eyes. She nodded, mentally shifting gears, then pushed off the wall. In total op mode, Jax slowly stalked her nemesis. She smiled slightly. His eyes burned with anger, but he couldnโ€™t hide the heat flickering behind them. She shook her head and was rewarded with his gaze raking her from her naturally thick, mahogany-colored hair, to her fitted black turtleneck to her short black leather skirt down to the tips of her black, thigh-high stiletto jackboots that clicked on the hardwood floor. She stopped two steps from him, planted her feet wide, and set her hands on her hips. โ€œWhat if I like it to hurt?โ€"Come at me again, I'm going to hurt you," he growled low.
