Philip Guthrie is one of my favorite characters from Hope's Folly so when I found out that this book was about his younger brother Devin I was thrilled. Luckily I was also one of the beta readers for this book. When I finished the last page, all I could say was WOW, what a book!

Devin has had the hots for Captain Makaiden Griggs ever since she worked for his family. The problem is she is married and her husband is a slime ball. When she leaves the Guthrie employ after her husband is fired, Devin thinks that is the end of it but little does he know. He also knows that his parents are pushing for his engagement to Tavia Emberson. There's nothing wrong with Tavia but Devin just doesn't love her nor she him.

Then his nephew Trip goes missing and Devin drops everything to try to figure out what happened to Trip. Meanwhile Makaiden or Kaidee as she likes to be called has problems of her own. Her husband is dead and she is up to her eyeballs in a mountain of debt. Then she sees someone she recognizes, Trip Guthrie. What's he doing on Dock Five? He disappears before she can catch up to him. She needs to find out what's going on before Trip gets into serious trouble.

This is just the beginning of this action packed thriller. I couldn't click the pages fast enough. Now my biggest problem is who do I love more, Philip or Devin? I guess I'll just have to wait until the next Linnea Sinclair book to see which character she comes up with next. I'm sure it will be a great one as always.
