Mystery | Thriller Medical

Emergency Room charge nurse Nora Halloran makes a heinous discovery walking from the employee parking lot to the hospital -- the mutilated body of Karen Chisholm, a fellow nurse, who is barely alive. Nora is quite shaken about the way Karen is defaced because Nora was attacked two years ago, and the rapist left her in the same condition as Karen. Only one person knows about this attack, he ex- lover Dr. Seth Cochran, who slept with Karen while living with Nora. He denies this vehemently, but Nora saw them in bed together. Nora fears for her safety knowing that this villain has returned and seemingly left Karen where she would be found by Nora.

Strange things happen after Karen dies, and Nora is blamed for everything. The rape kit that was used on the deceased has disappeared, and the area where her body is has been compromised. Nora not only fears for her safety, but now she may lose her job.

URGENT CARE is Nora's story, but her two best friends and colleagues have their own story threads. Amanda battles with a prominent pediatrician over the care of an indigent child that needs the only bed in the pediatric ward, versus the doctor's wealthy patient who is just in for observation.

Gina discovers that she is not who she thinks she is and believes that the same man that brutally murdered her mother will be coming after her.

CJ Lyons continues to mesmerize the reader with her white knuckle medical tales that are reminiscent of Robin Cook's thrillers. Nora, Amanda and Gina are real people, and their problems are believable. URGENT CARE is the author's third entry in this series, but is a stand alone story. However, you can't go wrong reading the previous books -- LIFELINES and WARNING SIGNS -- as they contain the same pulse-pounding life and death situations.
