Emma Calhoun's soul was reborn every seventy-two years
and has been driven to return to Wales, find Christian,
remember their love, and break the curse that keeps his
ghost earthbound. Twelve times he has gone through the
joyful reunion with the soul of his love, only to lose her
yet again to death.
Emma always knew something was missing from her life,
but couldn't figure out what. She searches the internet and
finds it. The crumbling castle walls of Arrick by the Sea
in Wales. She takes a vacation from her business; a
photographer from Savannah Georgia.
Her first night there, she is ordered to depart from
of all things, a ghost. A very handsome and appealing one.
Although she has grown up with the popular myth of the
ghosts who frequent her home town, she's never been one to
believe in them. So, she surprises herself with the easy
way that she accepts his reality.
He's had enough of breaking his heart. With this new
incarnation, he has determined he won't meet her, love her,
and lose her again. Best made plans. She is the spitting
image of his first Emma and drawn against his will, he
continues to meet her and learn this new spirited Emma that
continues to surprise him as to their similarities and vast
differences.
The owners of her manor house are three witches.
Unbeknownst to the cursed lovers, they've concocted a plan.
Unless every step is met, unless the patterns continue to
remain broken from previous attempts, this time will fail
like the twelfth time.
I had fun reading THIRTEEN CHANCES by Cindy Miles. The
ghosts are not just fixtures in this book but characters
that have a mind of their own. They blend the century of
their previous life and the current time. What better thing
can you say about a romance novel than "I cried."? I won't
tell you when. I don't want to spoil it for you.
Christian is a fierce Welsh Crusader who’s vowed to wait for
his true love, Emma—even if it means waiting forever. Eight
hundred years later, he’s still walking the earth as a
spirit, thanks to a mangled magic spell. Every seventy-two
years, Emma reappears, drawn to her Intended. But each time
Christian has to make her fall in love with him all over
again, only to lose her over and over...
Now the Ballaster sisters hope to succeed where every other
White Witch has failed. They are determined to bring Emma’s
and Christian’s souls together for all eternity. But they
have only one chance to get it right. Emma's and Christian’s
thirteenth chance. And if they fail, Christian's and Emma’s
love will be lost forever...
