Harmony's mother and father both have passed away leaving
her in the care of her jealous and spiteful older sister,
Agatha. Harmony is to remain in Agatha's care until she
marries or turns 21 and then she will be allowed her
inheritance. On Agatha and Harmony's way home a single
bandit on horseback stops their carriage by gunfire. He
takes Harmony's sapphire ring. Agatha is shaken, but
Harmony is wishful.
Anthony spotted Harmony and her fiery red hair the moment
she arrived. He knew he had to get to know her. Anthony is
leading a double life. He comes to Agatha's house claiming
to be a lord and to return a sapphire ring in which he
found lying beside the road. Only he and Harmony know he
was the one who held their carriage up by gunpoint.
After a short courtship Harmony is able to trust Anthony,
but she still feels he is hiding something from her. Even
with her reservations she agrees to marry him because she
loves him and doesn't care what he does.
Could Anthony be a lord? Was he a bandit? Or was Anthony
something else entirely...
Written with tight prose, deviant behavior, secrets,
passion and mystery this author takes us on the ultimate
emotional ride. Harmony is a beautiful character. She's
strong and she knows what she wants. She doesn't want to be
stuck with her sister, her spiteful, mean sister. When
Agatha isn't happy with Harmony she locks her in her
bedroom. Harmony goes outside on her first night home and
her sister locks her outside saying she can sleep in the
barn. When she's kidnapped Agatha believes her to be
nothing more than a common whore. Things get worse when
Agatha informs her that she will never see a dime of her
inheritance. Harmony fights back. She isn't willing to
accept her sister's behavior.
Anthony is a sexy, alpha hero. He loves Harmony with
everything he has and is willing to do anything for her.
Even court her so that she may be properly shown into
society to find a suitor to marry. Even while he is longing
she will want to be with him. He loves her so much he will
do anything and everything it takes to make her happy. But
Harmony knows there are things about him she doesn't know.
He is too vague on the whereabouts of his house and his
family.
Helen A. Rosburg takes on to emotional heights some authors
only dream of taking their readers. She fills her story
with so many twists and turns that the reader won't be
expecting. I love having "ah-ha" moments and I had one
while reading this book and I believe every reader will
have that same moment, when you do you'll understand the
title of the book. This is a book for every historical
romance fan. And if you don't read historicals I highly
recommend you start with this book. Trust me you won't be
sorry.
Written with humor
as well as suspense, this love story depicts a young woman
in captivity who yearns for her duplicitous lover. After the
death of her affluent parents, Harmony Simmons loses
everything—including her freedom. Forced to move to England
and live with her domineering and jealous older sister
Agatha, Harmony’s existence becomes restricted to the prim
atmosphere of an English parlor, a stifling environment
compared to the expansive American West of her former,
privileged life. With her spirit crushed by her
confinement, she meets Anthony Allen—a rogue who immediately
falls for Harmony. He falsifies his inheritance and
introduces himself as the suave aristocrat Lord Farmington.
As they begin their romance, Harmony slowly recognizes the
ruse behind his persona and starts to question whether her
mysterious lover is a cavalier bandit or an honorable hero.
Yet, his secret does nothing but ignite her passion for him
as she strives to uncover his past.
