Romance Paranormal

Nuala is a woman who has lived a long life and seen many horrors. Her family are witch folk and there are people in England who seek to destroy them. When she sees her husband burned, she takes revenge on the witch hunter breaking one of the cardinal rules of their belief. Her act of revenge is dark magic so her magic is taken from her and she must live on attempting to earn redemption.

Her skills as a matchmaker were an intrinsic part of her life. She moved from life to life doing her best to put together those she felt were meant to be together. Her last attempt lead to a series of horrible events. Nuala moves on to a life as a nurse. Her last patient marries her before leaving her a fortune. Now, she is a member of a widows club. All of its members have vowed to remain unmarried. They concentrate on leading a fulfilling life and offering help to the poor of London.

As Nuala seeks to guide a young woman who seeks to join the widows out of her grief, she escorts her to some society parties. Nuala is stunned to run into St. John, the Earl of Donnington. He knows some of her past and blames her for much that has gone wrong in his life.

Sinjin is determined to expose Nuala for the evil character she is. His family life was strongly affected by her matchmaking and he sets out to destroy her life. At the same time, he feels a very strong attraction to her. As he sets out to learn more of her and prevent her from creating any more disasters, Sinjin is suprised by how much he learns to respect her for her good work and caring.

As they spend more time together, Sinjin will find himself acting in ways he would never consider and learning that there is much more to the world than he could have imagined.

This is a dark and chilling tale of the lengths to which some people will go to seek revenge. While I found the charadcters interesting, the constant switching between love and hate was a little more than I like to read about. The villain was as evil and repulsive as a reader could want. Since I prefer light-hearted comedy, I was disturbed by much of went on.
