Romance Historical

Julia Reed, charged with treason, waits in the country jail for transportation to London. The days have past slowly since her incarceration, giving her time to reflect on who hates her enough to frame her. The nightmare of her capture overwhelms Julia, as the spies who caught her were Sam, her first love, and Nick, an old friend and former lover. They believe her guilty and wish her dead. When Sam arrives at her jail with questions, his eyes doubtful, Julia fears he wants to lull her into incriminating herself and not helping her. Sam Sherryinton feels shock and disbelief that the young girl who followed him around in her father's garden has betrayed her country, causing thousands of innocents to die in Afghanistan. Everyone is convinced of her guilt. However, there are facts bothering him that do not make sense. Sam always follows orders and the thoughts running through his head scare him. Julia's trial and execution will be swift. Trusting his instincts, Sam breaks Julia out of jail. In their flight for truth, Julia and Sam dodge assassins, and Julia experiences a devastating betrayal. It persuades her to embrace an unexplored love regardless of the consequences. The conclusion of Spies and Lovers trilogy is the strongest of the three tales. Ms. Callen pens edge-of-your-seat suspense and adventure with a touching love story. A WOMAN'S INNOCENCE will haunt anyone who has made poor choices yet struggles to regain their pride and self- confidence.

SUMMARY

A Gentleman's Passion Julia Reed's love of adventure led her far from home -- and resulted in her wrongful conviction for treason against the British Crown. Now she faces a death sentence, thanks to the determined efforts of Sam Sherryngton, the dashing agent who arrested her, and a man whom Julia has adored in secret for years. A Woman's Innocence Even though the evidence against Julia is compelling, Sam cannot help but believe in her innocence. Risking everything, he breaks this enchanting prisoner from her cell and leads her undercover to find the real traitor. But on the trail of a dangerous truth, a passion is stirred that can no longer be hidden or denied. Each touchbrings them closer to sensuous surrender -- but will giving in to an irresistible temptation free their imprisoned hearts ... or cost two fugitive lovers their lives?
