Ever since I read SHADES OF DARK, I've been waiting for
Philip Guthrie's story and I'm so happy to say that it's
here and what a story it is!
When we last saw Philip he was pretty banged up but at
least he was still alive. Now he's been given a ship and a
rag tag crew to help fight the Imperial Forces.
Unfortunately the ship he is given is an old cruiser that
had been used as a cargo ship. Of course, beggars can't be
choosers.
Rya Bennton is ex-ImpSec and really doesn't know what to do
with herself now that her father has been killed. She
decides to join the Alliance against the Imperial Forces
and go to Seth to see if she can serve on board her
father's old Stryker. Little does she know that Philip
Guthrie will be the commander of the ship, the same Philip
Guthrie whom her father brought home when she was nine and
she tossed peas at. She had been half in love with Philip
since then even though he was years older than she was.
HOPE'S FOLLY was action packed from beginning to end. In the
midst of all the action, there's Philip's and Rya's story.
It's not a pretty one but it certainly is intriguing. I was
on the edge of my seat with this one and even though I
dreaded reading The End because the story would be over, it
still did not make me slow down reading this book one iota!
Linnea Sinclair is one author on my keeper shelf and her
books are always rereads for me!
It's an impossible mission on a derelict ship called
HOPE'S FOLLY. A man who feels he can't love. A woman who
believes she's unlovable. And an enemy who will stop at
nothing to crush them both.
Admiral Philip Guthrie is in an unprecedented position: on
the wrong end of the law, leading a rag-tag band of rebels
against the oppressive Imperial forces. Or would be, if he
can reach his command ship—the intriguingly named Hope’s
Folly—alive. Not much can rattle Philip’s legendary cool—
but the woman who helps him foil an assassination attempt
on Kirro Station will. She’s the daughter of his best
friend and first commander—a man who died while under
Philip’s command, and whose death is on Philip’s
conscience.
Rya Bennton has been in love with Philip Guthrie since she
was a girl. But can her childhood fantasies survive an
encounter with the hardened man, and newly-minted rebel
leader, who it seems has just become her new commanding
officer? And will she still be willing follow him through
the jaw of hell once she learns the truth about her
father’s death?
