Dawn Madison has finally joined the Limpet and Associates
team in their quest to find the vampire Underground that is
hidden in Los Angeles. Dawn's mother, Eva, is a part of this
mysterious Underground because she is a vampire, which makes
Dawn part vampire. Dawn never knew her mother because she
walked away when Dawn was only a month old. She lived with
her father who took care of her growing up. Now Eva has her
father, and Dawn has to find out a way to rescue him. Kiko,
a friend of Dawn who has visions, told her that she is the
"key" to destroying the Underground. But Dawn is so confused
because she is not getting the answers she longs for,
especially from Jonah Limpet, who Dawn works for. Ever since
one of their owned, was killed, Dawn can't get over the loss
and lashes out at Jonah, who is not a normal man. A spirit
resides in his body that has used Dawn in the past through
sexual enlightenment, so he can keep his power. Dawn is now
fed up with Jonah and his vague references to everything.
The only person Dawn feels she can count on is P.I. Matt
Lonigan, who she is very attracted to. But Dawn doesn't know
that Matt is also not what he seems. Matt is actually the
Master of the Underground vampire coven who wants Dawn so
very badly. Since he cannot have Eva, he will take Dawn.
With Dawn by his side, he will continue to take over
Hollywood, and perhaps she will be the woman who will give
him all her love and devotion.
Dawn has entered into a world where people have given up
their souls in order to stay young. And the most famous of
actors and actresses in Hollywood are part of the
Underground. Eva is also part of the Hollywood elite who
gave up her soul and denied Dawn a mother. Since Dawn will
never forgive Eva for that, she will take her down with the
rest of the enemy.
BREAK OF DAWN is the third book in Chris Marie Green's
Vampire Babylon series. Set in a paranormal Hollywood, there
are vampires and spirits who long to be immortal and will
stop at nothing to accomplish this. Even the ones you expect
to be good, are just as ambiguous in their goals as the
villains. Dawn, the heroine, is torn in half because of her
mother, and the loyalty she has for her boss, Jonah who uses
Dawn for his own means. Some readers may think Jonah is
being selfish when it comes to Dawn, but when you find out
why he does the things he do, you will have a better
understanding about the character.
Nothing is cut and dry in BREAK OF DAWN, and many sides are
blurred, especially the way Green allows us into the minds
and emotions of her characters, that include Eva, as well as
the Master who just wants to be loved. The vampire myth that
Green has written is very original and will take the reader
places you would have never imagined.
Fans of Chris Marie Green will not be disappointed in the
least by BREAK OF DAWN and will anxiously be awaiting the
next release in this series.
