Romance Paranormal

ER Dr. Lara West receives a phone call in the middle of the night from a stranger who is downstairs and bleeding all over her living room floor. She has no choice but to help this stranger man who calls himself Robert. She urges him to let her call 911 but he refuses to let her. After she patches him up, she finds herself alone and bound with her house on fire. She is able to escape the flames, but barely.

Lara is placed in witness protection and given a new identity to protect her. She is trained as an agent in the government run unit that studies vampires. Also at the time there is a vampire doctor called Bobby who works at night at the hospital and is obsessed with, Meridian, a night nurse who works along side him. Bobby feeds off the female patients and tries to keep control of his beast who wants more. The beast also wants Meridian.

It seems that vampires are using hospitals for their own feeding grounds and Lara must try and top them. Will Bobby be able to figure out the equally mysterious Meridian and will Lara be able to remain alive as an enemy continues to stalk her?

LOVE WITHOUT BLOOD is a very confusing story that I found myself barely able to continue. The beginning had great promise, but then became quickly tedious with the multiple story lines and characters. You are not sure the character's motivations and the action takes a long time in coming.

This is not your typical vampire romance. The vampires that Raz Steel has created are not very seductive or romantic and some reader may be turned off by how forceful Bobby is as he tries to understand Meridian. Some may have a difference of opinion and enjoy this medical paranormal that has a great deal of mystery undertones.

One interesting fact is that Raz Steel is a male author and for this initial book, I give him credit on giving the vampire myth a bit of a different spin.

SUMMARY

"I CAN'T STOP THE BLEEDING," said her nighttime caller.

The intruder then compelled Dr. Lara West to remove the bullet from his shoulder. She treated his wound, but that quelled neither his desire for the sweet life pulsing through the flesh of her thigh, nor the rampant animal lust that defines his existence.

The darkness has just begun. Dr. West's identity, what she wants--all stands in danger of being devoured. Nothing is ever the same for those inducted into the sinister world of vampires, be they newly turned monsters or the government agents sworn to destroy them. Lara West has tasted both power and passion, and a price must be paid. Yet she's glimpsed salvation in the night. Hope still remains for...
