Mila has an amazing power to heal. She is a talented artist that paints eggs in a tribute to her ancestors. Her grandmother taught her the ancient Ukranian art as well as many ways of using the eggs to heal. Her abilities come with the downside of epileptic seizures. She is lunching with her friend, Candy, when a seizure strikes. Only when she awakens, will she discover that they aren't what they seem.

When Tal comes to her seeking help in finding Sela and Vegre, Mila will learn that much of what she knew of her family is false. Mila and her family escaped from the Overworld when the other clans sought to kill them. Her Baba tried to teach her what she needed to restore their family honor. Her mother sought to protect her.

As Tal and Mila work together to thwart the wizard's evil plans, each will find their world is not what they thought. Beliefs will be re-examined. They will have to work together to solve the problems they face including the final attempt to save the Sacred Tree.
