Romance Historical

In an ill-conceived plan to run from the disgrace of being jilted twice, Grace, the Countess of Sheffield, flees London to seek refuge in her childhood home. When her carriage turns over in a snowstorm, Grace stumbles into another scandal. Her savior is a brawny commoner. The cool reasoning that has guided her through life flees as Michael shows her a night of mutual pleasure. In his home, Grace discovers the strength and courage she thought were lost. Recently returning to London from the Colonies, Michael Ranier hides from his impossible past. His plans to farm in the countryside anonymously fall by the wayside when Grace enters his life. The elegant beauty ensnares his heart with her goodness and kindness. Michael knows a mere blacksmith and farmer cannot hope to attain her love, especially since he must continue to atone for his past. However, one lesson Michael has learned is that hope is essential in life. Maybe he cannot have a lifetime, but a short interval will last him through the years. Following Grace to London, Michael continues his flirtation while keeping out of sight from the authorities who want to hang him. Grace knows Michael could not be happy in her world, but she must decide if she can give up her fortune and societal way of life to live a simple one with Michael. Ms. Nash plucks a cool aristocratic woman out of her element and places her with a man who's her exact opposite. The characters and story lure readers into wanting to experience Grace and Michael's emotional growth and awakening to self-awareness that then enables them to embrace love.
