Bound to the stake with villagers screaming "burn witch," the healer Zia looks to the heavens hoping for a miracle. It arrives when a group of warriors interrupts the lighting of her funeral pyre. The warrior needs information from the healer about his brother and snatches her away from her accusers. Zia leads him to her grandmother's village where she last saw the warrior's brother, Ronan. Used to people being afraid of her, Zia finds the warrior Artair not intimidated by her abilities.
