As the daughter of the King of Dreams, Dawn knew as a teenager that she was different from other kids, which only made her want to be normal. So Dawn spent her college days learning to hide who she really was. She became a specialist in dreams and now works for a clinic analyzing dreams and what they mean to the dreamer. That's where she meets Noah Clarke. He feels his dreams are real and Dawn seems to be the only one who believes that what he says and what he dreams are true.
Noah has been going to the clinic to find help in understanding why his dreams seem so real, which tends to make him not want to sleep in the first place. Then one night, Dawn allows Noah to stay at the clinic. She physically enters his dreams when the same entity that's haunting her dreams is trying to hurt Noah. They both realize there's more going on and they need help. Dawn must face her fears and enter into her father's world, the Dream Realm, and learn to become what she is -- a Nightmare.
BEFORE I WAKE took me into a fascinating new paranormal world and kept me riveted to each page with its mystery, intrigue and unique characters. I'm very excited to see where Kathryn Smith takes us next.
You may call it a dream job . . .
And in some ways, you'd be right. I actually get paid to study people's dreams. It comes much easier than my employers at the Sleep Center suspect; after all, I, Dawn, am the daughter of the king of the dream world, and I can roam the dreams of others, battling the nightmares that plague them.
I call it a nightmare . . .
Honestly, I could use a good night's sleep. But ever since I met Noah Clarke, I'm even more torn between the two worlds: smart, sexy, and able to control his own dreams, Noah could be my perfect manβexcept he's being stalked in his sleep by an unearthly evil, hell-bent on destroying him . . . and the entire world.
