Kelly Jones is long overdue for a vacation, but the day before she leaves for sandy beaches and drinks with little umbrellas, she is asked to lead a task force investigating the discovery of human bones along the Appalachian Trail. The bones, however, are not just from one body. There are likely at least five victims found and there is the possibility that the victims have been taken across state lines. Kelly now has to find a possible serial killer and has to do it with a team that refuses to play nice with her.
When fresh bodies are found, things become even more complicated. Two bodies with similar wounds are found side by side and left where they could be easily found. Someone wanted her to see these bodies. The strange thing about these bodies, however, is that they do not appear to have been killed by the same person. Could it be that there is a copycat killer? Or is this a team effort; a mentor taking on a fledgling killer? Kelly needs to find the killer or killers and needs to do it fast before another victim can be tortured, mutilated, murdered, and dumped.
I enjoyed the suspense of this book and the many different perspectives of the story. I hope that the loose ends at the story's conclusion are setting the stage for more books in this intriguing series.
