AFTER MIDNIGHT by Teresa Medeiros takes place in Europe in the 1820's. Caroline Cabot has raised her sisters since her parents' untimely death. She has done nothing but sacrificed herself for Vivienne and Portia, including fighting off the advances of her cousin Cecil. Now that Vivienne has come out in society, and sent a note home to inform Caroline and Portia of her new suitor, things seem to be looking up. With the best intentions Caroline believes that this will be good for everyone's sake.
When the Cabot sister's go to a party given by Viscount Trevelynn, Vivienne's suitor, things honestly seemed to be looking up, at least that was until she met Adrian Kane. From there, not even Caroline could have guessed that her quiet, peaceful life was about to take a twisted turn. With Portia's overactive imagination, the tons rumors, the memory of Cecil, and the warning of a constable, Caroline finds herself in the middle of a tangled mystery that makes her ask the question.
Could Kane, Lord Trevelynn, really be a vampire?
Teresa Medeiros weaves a story like no other. She gave her characters a true charm and a realistic view. I fell in love with all of them. She left nothing out of the details and imperfections with each of them. With suspense, romance, and humor, the world she built was more enjoyable and believable then I thought it would be, and I can't wait for Portia's story.
"Our sister is marrying a vampire."
When the ever practical Caroline Cabot first hears those
words from the lips of her fanciful youngest sister, she
accuses Portia of having a wild imagination.
But when she discovers their sister Vivienne is actually
being courted by Adrian Kane, the mysterious viscount
rumored to be a vampire, she decides to accept his
invitation to a midnight supper and do some sleuthing of her
own. To both her delight and her dismay, she soon finds
herself falling under Kane's bewitching spell.
After all, what's a proper young lady to do when her
sister's suitor arouses more than just her suspicions?
