Detective Rebecca Montgomery wants to be part of the
investigation into the disappearance of her sister,
Danielle, but she's too close to the victim to be included.
Instead, Rebecca is investigating a body found behind a
wall in a theater following a fire. She starts scanning the
area for the arsonist, knowing that they usually hang
around to watch. A mysterious man gets her attention. When
he walks away from the scene, she follows. He stops at an
outdoor restaurant, fully expecting Rebecca to join him.
Intrigued but still in police mode, Rebecca interrogates
him. He knows a lot about her, even how she takes her
coffee. He insists she do her homework if she wants to know
about him. Rebecca is intrigued and turned on by the Latino
hunk. His name is Diego Galvan.
When other San Antonio women start disappearing and the FBI
gets involved, they want Rebecca out of the way. Her boss
puts her on vacation leave, knowing that Rebecca will
continue to search for her sister's killer. Her
investigation leads her to Hunter Cavanaugh, who at one
time owned the theater that was set on fire.
Rebecca sets up an interview with Mr. Cavanaugh. She's
surprised that Diego works for Cavanaugh. She gets the
brush-off and her instincts tell her something is not right
with Cavanaugh. Rebecca is a determined woman. Her life has
not been the same since her sister disappeared. She will
not give up until she finds the answers.
Ready for a new life, Diego is drawn to Rebecca. He starts
to leave roses at her window. However, someone notices he's
making nice with the cop and a devious plan is put into
motion. Rebecca is kidnapped and learns of the vile,
despicable things that men are doing to the young women
who've disappeared. Her life is about to be snuffed out
when Diego tries to save her. The trap has been set and the
intended snared.
Jordan Dane's debut romantic suspense, NO ONE HEARD
HER SCREAM, is well-written, chilling and definitely a book
to read.
A relentless detective with the San Antonio Police
Department is barred from an investigation into the
disappearance and murder of her younger sister and forced to
take another assignment. Skeletal remains buried in the wall
of an old theatre destroyed by arson make an intriguing new
case. But when the bones turn out to be of a woman, close in
age to her sister, the hunt for a killer gets personal—a
vendetta for justice.
A seductive enforcer to the mob, with secrets of his own,
stands between the detective and a powerful man she believes
is linked to the murder. Will the reluctant henchman become
an ally or betray her to his treacherous 'benefactor'? Drawn
into the sinister world of human trafficking, the modern-day
slave trade, the detective unravels a grim trail of
destroyed lives—leaving her little hope for vindication in
the death of her sister and a nameless young woman buried
alive.
