Dylan Saunders attends his brother's wedding while attempting to hide his cynicism. Having grown up in a broken home with an abusive father and an absent mother, Dylan believes the prospects of a successful marriage are rare. At the bar, Dylan runs into the beautiful Catherine Hilliard, a friend of the bride, who has psychic visions. Catherine predicts his life will take a dramatic turn. He will meet two women; one will bring danger, the other salvation. Dylan laughs at her suggestion and ignores his attraction to her. She is nothing but trouble.
Trouble does arrive, but it is not Catherine. Dylan, an investigative reporter, made a powerful enemy when he uncovered evidence that led to a U.S. Senator's arrest for murder. Erica, the senator's mistress and Dylan's informant, arrives at the wedding begging for help. She leads Dylan into the woods for a private conversation, where he collapses from a drug Erica put in his drink. When Dylan awakens several hours later, Erica is missing and the evidence of a bloody struggle makes him the prime suspect.
Catherine's intuition and psychic energy urge her to help Dylan. They join forces, but soon discover Dylan's enemy has manipulated the evidence leading the police to believe Dylan and Catherine are guilty of murder. On the run and trying to expose the killer, Dylan and Catherine must confront and come to terms with the past before they can find answers to the present.
Ms. Freethy follows her superb SILENT RUN with this excellent sequel. The storyline of a man and woman on the run is absorbing and the pacing is fast and furious. Incorporating a psychic heroine enhances the story and does not overwhelm it with unbelievable elements. The mystery is solved with a chilling conclusion that will shock and surprise readers.
