Shannon is grateful that she's become one of Merlin's Maidens as a female agent for the Crown. Of late, one of her biggest fears is that she'll be sent back to the streets from where she was plucked years ago, since she's gone against academy rules to aid a friend in need. In the process, Alexandr Orlov, a thief, got away with much sought- after information, putting the mission her friend was on at risk. However, Shannon learns that instead of getting kicked out into the streets, she's being sent on an extremely dangerous mission; one she's eager to start.

Alexandr has been an agent for the Russian government for years and lately has been feeling that he's not doing his best work. He fears that one day his lack of concentration may get him killed. But his friend and supervisor has another plan for Alexandr, sending him on an important assignment that could save many lives. Shannon and Alexandr are shocked to come face-to-face again during their missions. Neither are aware that the other is an agent for their governments, until they are brought together to protect two children from certain death.

Alexandr soon realizes that he really likes Shannon, even though she has a tough exterior. But making Shannon see that the sweet-talking flirt he makes himself out to be is only a role he's playing will take work. Shannon can't help falling for Alexandr, but she can't tell for sure if his behavior is an act. She starts to see the real Alexandr when he thinks no one is looking, and she realizes Alexandr has managed to worm his way into her heart. The only problem is that she loves the excitement and freedom of her career and is unwilling to give it up.

SEDUCED BY A SPY is an action-packed suspense made even better with romance. Almost every character is a suspect, and the process of falling in love and the steps Shannon and Alexandr take to protect each other, along with the interaction with the children, is very heartwarming. I loved this story and highly recommend that you add it to your must-read list.
