Romance Paranormal
Ms. Murphy has left her shaman series to start a new tale of a young woman who meets creatures that should only exist in horror stories.
Margrit is a bright attorney who works for the public defenders office. She has just won a major case. She works long hours and sometimes makes bad decisions. Running is her cure for stress. One night while running through Central Park at midnight, she meets a rather strange man.
Margrit goes home and forgets about the man until she learns that a young woman was killed that night. Now, she finds herself helping her sometime lover, a police detective search for that same man. A witness has put him at the scene of the crime.
As the case progesses, Margrit will find herself protecting the man who she once believed responsible for the deaths of several young women. Alban is a gargoyle. During the day, he is stone but at night, he comes to life and he is intrigued by Margrit.
As she gets to know Alban better, Margrit will help him evade the police and they will search for the person who is framing Alban. Margrit will be drawn into a world of vampires, gargoyles, selkies, and other mystical creatures which only resided in stories...or so she thought.
Once again, Ms. Murphy has created a world which somewhat resembles the world as we know it; with the addition of creatures that often invade our dreams and horror stories.
While the ending of the story completed the plot that was the focus of this story, it also leaves the reader with the impression that there will be more stories involving Margrit and Alban.
This is not a romance in the truest sense of the world since Alban's people are bound by laws which Margrit can't fathom. However, there is a great deal of tenderness in some of Alban's revelations of his past and the relationship he shares with Margrit.
SUMMARY
What secrets lie shrouded in darkness? Okay, so
jogging through Central Park after midnight wasn't a bright
idea. But Margrit Knight never thought she'd encounter a
dark new world filled with magical beings -- not to mention
a dying woman and a mysterious stranger with blood on his
hands. Her logical, lawyer instincts told her it couldn't
all be real -- but she could hardly deny what she'd seen . .
. and touched. The mystery man, Alban, was a gargoyle.
One of the fabled Old Races who had hidden their existence
for centuries. Now he was a murder suspect, and he needed
Margrit's help to take the heat off him and find the real
killer. As they worked together to figure out who was
framing Alban, Margrit discovered that this man with a heart
-- and body -- of stone made her feel more alive than ever,
And as the dead pile up, it's a race against the sunrise to
clear Alban's name and keep them both alive . . .
