Laurel Jennings has a hard time making friends, and the few she has made she has lost either through their betrayal or through their death. Her closest friend and co-worker, Jonathan Linton, was recently murdered, and she is being arrested for his murder. On first inspection, all evidence points to her -- she found the body, her fingerprints are on the murder weapon, and she has no solid alibi for the time of his death. She has no idea who could have killed Jonathan with such passion, but she knows that she did not do it. Will she be able to prove her innocence from behind bars? Or is there another power at work trying to keep her locked up forever?
Damon Metcalf left behind the fast paced life of a District Attorney and settled for a slow paced life in Montana. When he receives a fax about the arrest of Laurel Jennings for the murder of Jonathan Linton, Damon finds himself on the first plane back into that fast paced world. He plans to offer his services as her defense even though he worked prosecution for all those years; however, Laurel refuses his services. When he can find no other attorney that is not somehow associated with the Linton family, she has no option but to keep on. Will their old chemistry flare back to life or is it too late to try? Will Damon be able to save Laurel from the death sentence that her crime demands?
Jamie Denton beautifully crafts multi-faceted, gripping suspense laced with romance. Her characters are diverse and add a wonderful dimension to the plot as the reader receives glimpses from each of their points of view. Ms. Denton's tale consists of mini stories that she combines flawlessly to create an exciting thriller. I love romantic suspense and Jamie Denton is an author that I would highly recommend. REMAIN SILENT is a fast paced suspense that keeps you glued to the edge of your seat and flipping those pages as quickly as possible.
