Shirley, Goodness and Mercy are extraordinary angels who are
willing to do anything to visit Earth and help those in
need. Sometimes their miracles are a little out of the
ordinary and their ways are frowned up by Gabriel, their
boss and head angel. But this Christmas season has been
filled with prayers and wishes and Gabriel can't handle them
all. So as a last resort, he turns to the three angels who
have a habit of breaking the rules when working on their
assignments.
Mercy is assigned to help Harry Alderwood, an eighty-six
year old man who is very sick and weak. He is so sick, that
he will not even make it to Christmas. His only wish is that
his loving wife, Rosalie will be taken care of. Rosalie has
become forgetful in her older years and Harry wants to make
sure that Rosalie will be settled into a retirement home
before he dies. But Rosalie won't listen to reason. It will
take Mercy to whisper thoughts into some ears and a bit of
coincidence for Rosalie to make her see that Harry's last
wish on Earth is the one that matters most of all.
The one thing nine year old Carter Jackson wants for
Christmas is a dog. His parents have promised him one when
he turned nine. But as he overhears his parents talk about
the lack of money they have to even buy presents this
holiday season, they admit that they also can't get Carter
the dog he wants. Shirley's job is to show Carter's parents
how important a dog will be to the family. And when a
strange yet friendly dog shows up at Carter's school and
follows him home, the Jackson's don't know what to think.
Shirley has some work cut out for her to prove that this new
pet is meant to be in their lives and that this Christmas
maybe a very pleasant surprise for them all.
Beth Fisher is a divorced single whose mother wants her to
get back into the dating game. But all Beth cares about is
playing a computer game called World of Warcraft and
chatting with her new internet buddy, Peter. Beth is a bit
bitter about men in general ever since her first marriage
failed. But as Beth gets to know Peter over the internet,
Beth's mother wants her to invite her internet friend to
Christmas. Goodness has to try and find a way for Beth and
Peter to meet. And when they do finally see each other, both
are surprised at what they find.
Debbie Macomber has written a wonderful holiday tale about
the three angels who help three totally different people
with their Christmas wishes. I was pleasantly surprised how
each individual story was handled and the outcome. Even
though this is a holiday read with some religious
undertones, it doesn't take away from the theme of the
story, which is goodwill and wanting the best for love ones.
I found myself a bit teary eyed reading Harry's story,
sighing through Carter and his simple wish for a dog and
chuckling over Beth's situation with her mother and finding
the perfect man. WHERE ANGELS GO has a little bit for every
reader and should definitely get anyone in the mood for
holiday cheer and warmth.
Christmas is a time for angels
Shirley, Goodness and Mercy are back! These three
irresistible angels love their assignments on Earth. They
especially love helping people who send prayer requests to
Heaven (even though the Archangel Gabriel, their boss, knows
they're going to break the rules)!
This Christmas, Mercy is assigned to bring peace of mind to
an elderly man . . . who discovers an unexpected answer to
his prayer.
Goodness is sent to oversee the love life of a woman afraid
to risk commitment a second time.
And Shirley has the task of granting a little boy's fondest
Christmas wish.
Shirley, Goodness and Mercy go wherever they're needed.
These three charming angels often find themselves in
trouble, but somehow things always work out for the
best—especially at Christmas.
