Aedon Rawn is on a mission for the Korcian Empire, a warrior space society in the future. He is their first undercover agent and his mission is to infiltrate the Citizens for Freedom. They wish to overthrow the Conglomerate, a huge oppressive government run by shady characters who want to control the populated areas of their corner of space. The Citizens for Freedom will do everything they can to destroy this government and return freedom and power to the people on all the affected planets.

Kala Char'ari is a woman; a warrior; a spy when necessary. She is deeply involved with the Citizens for Freedom and has dedicated herself to freeing her race, which is facing extinction. She has neither time nor inclination for a man. But when the hideout of the group's leader is discovered and destroyed, she's forced to go on the run with Aedon and put her trust in this dark warrior. They must gather the outlying members of the Citizens for Freedom to continue the rebellion and discover a way to bring the Conglomerate down.

I thoroughly enjoyed TRUE DECEPTION. Aedon and Kala's story is riveting and intense, and though the world they live in is far from here, both in locality and time, the romance could just as easily take place in New York City or Topeka, Kansas. The relationship is the main focus of the book; the surroundings are just a plus. This is my first book by Ms. Waddell and I can't wait to go get her previous novel, TRUE BLOOD. If it's anything like TRUE DECEPTION, it will be a treat. I hope she continues writing about this world.
