Thriller Police Procedural | Suspense

Susan Pulaski is a Las Vegas detective who's fallen on hard times. In STRIP SEARCH, she must use her profiling skills to help find a killer who uses numerology to pick who will be the victims of his grisly murders. Being no good with numbers and math, Pulaski enlists the help of autistic savant Darcy O'Bannon. The only problem is that Darcy's father is the Chief of Police and does not want his son, whom he views as disabled, involved in the case. While dealing with trying to get the help she needs with the case, Pulaski also battles with the ghosts of her past -- past lovers and past addictions. As the killings begin to pile up, the numbers game is played out and it's only Darcy O'Bannon who can solve the equation.

STRIP SEARCH is a well-written mystery with just the right amount of twists and turns to keep you guessing. Susan Pulaski is the typical fallen-from-grace female detective -- she's had trouble with men in the past, has one male detective she hates and who hates her, and she has to put on a tough façade while inside she's sad and struggling with her past. Pulaski is written in such a way that you're unsure in the beginning if you're going to like her. Despite all of that, by the end of the book, you're totally in her corner. William Bernhardt crafted her character well. Some of the dialogue is a bit contrived, but overall it flows nicely and you feel like you're there listening in on the conversation. I was hoping for something more out of the ending, but I was not disappointed. Overall, STRIP SEARCH is a good read -- it flows smoothly and keeps your attention.

SUMMARY

This is the long-awaited sequel to DARK EYE.

Six months after the events of DARK EYE, police psychologist Susan Pulaski has cleaned herself up and put her life back on track--but some people insist on focusing on her past mistakes.

Autistic savant Darcy O'Bannon is still struggling to convince his father he is capable of doing police work-- when a bizarre killer with a fixation on weird math and Kabbalistic theology starts stalking the Vegas Strip.

The killings seem random; only Darcy can see a pattern...
