Anna Strong, a newly turned vampire, is not ready to fully embrace the kind of creature she's becoming. The fact she no longer has a reflection and that human food, especially her mother's, does not satisfy her hunger is about all she can handle for now. As a bounty hunter, her new vampire capabilities are quickly becoming an asset, although they also prolong her life, which means, unfortunately, that she'll outlive her family.
While having an Italian dinner with her parents, Anna's mother receives a call from her dead brother's ex- girlfriend, Carolyn, claiming that her daughter and their granddaughter, Trish, is missing. Of course, Carolyn wants Anna to use her tracking skills to find Trish. As Anna's investigation gains momentum, she discovers an Internet sex ring involving Carolyn and Trish, and the only way to protect Trish is using her new connections as a vampire.
I hope I've left enough unsaid to intrigue all readers. Anna Strong is a fabulous character learning to accept her fate as a vampire. I, myself, am desperate to read more about Anna and find out where Jeanne C. Stein will take my imagination. This is one of the best vampire novels I've had the pleasure of reading.
Anna Strong was a tough-as-nails bounty hunter, until the
night she was attacked-and changed forever. Now
a vampire, Anna discovers that her long-dead brother may
have had a daughter-and the girl's in serious trouble.
There are some very dangerous people after her, but
they're about to learn that to a bounty hunter with an
unnatural thirst for blood, even the deadliest human
predators are easy prey.
