Connor Duncan has seen some of the worst brutalities life
has to offer. All he wants is to be left alone to start a
family and breed horses, but that will have to come later.
First, he's required to be the scout for Captain Murray and
his solders headed for Point Pleasant.
At a ball before his departure, Conner is literally stepped
on by a rather clumsy beauty. After talking with her,
Conner wishes he could keep her for his own. But she's a
lady and deserves better than him.
Carrie Murray has outlived several fiancés, none of them of
her choosing, and has been sent to the Colonies with her
brother, Captain Murray, to live with their uncle, the
Governor of Williamsburg. Carrie is determined to have some
adventure in her life and see her father before she's
forced to settle down. So when the soldiers gather for
departure, she's ready to go even though she's not invited.
It doesn't take long for Connor and Carrie to feel their
attraction, but Carrie's brother is determined to keep them
apart for unknown reasons.
RISING WIND is page after page of adventure and horrific
encounters lived and relived. However, mixed with all the
bad is a love destined to be discovered. And for the love
of a woman, Connor is willing to die so Carrie can live. I
couldn't put this book down once I started it. I highly
recommend RISING WIND be added to your must-read list.
Leaving behind the Highlands for the New World at the
tender age of ten, Connor Duncan learned quickly that only
the fit and the fortunate survive. As a scout and an expert
marksman he is both…and a man to be reckoned with. But what
is a rough-hewn frontiersman like him to do with a
sheltered beauty like the governor’s niece? There seems to
be no way to avoid the “Virgin Widow” when she insists on
accompanying him on a mission through the wilderness to
Fort Savannah. Neither capture, nor torture, nor the
violent birth pangs of a young nation can keep them apart
or stop the founding of a brand new dynasty of Duncans.
