Selena McCaffrey is on the run from assassins again -- after
a brief hiatus and a taste of the normal life in Tulsa, OK.
Apparently, she has some unfinished business to take care
of and that business has come looking for her in the form
of a bomb that explodes one evening at her home. Boyfriend
and cop Tony Ceola is there to witness it all. Tony quickly
takes charge and whisks Selena away to "hide out" in
Atlanta.
Surprisingly, Selena and Tony get some unsolicited help
from Charlize -- an assassin who shares a history with
Selena. Charlize is a beautiful cold-blooded killer. Why is
she helping Selena now and can she be trusted? After all, a
contract hit was offered to Charlize to take Selena out.
Apparently, the contract was offered to several people.
Unfortunately for Selena, she can't look over her shoulder
enough and has no idea how many people want to see her
dead.
SCORCHED is a riveting read about the seedy underworld of
assassins and contract killers. Butler tells a tangled tale
of double-crossing characters with complex identities.
While I enjoyed this book, I had a hard time keeping track
of the various characters and their relationships. Overall,
SCORCHED is a suspenseful read for those who persevere.
