Mystery Woman Sleuth

For Astoria P.I. Sofie Metropolis, September is shaping up to be a memorable month. Six months after discovering her husband-to-be, Thomas-the-Toad, cheating with her maid of honor on the day of the wedding, Sofie is annoyed by her status as an "old maid" in the eyes of her family, but that doesn't mean she's yearning for a return to her mother's matchmaking schemes. On the contrary; Sofie is definitely not interested in getting involved with another Greek man, especially one who might try to slap a ring on her finger. But sexy Greek baker Dino Antonopoulos doesn't like to take no for an answer, and he's working hard to seduce her at every turn with his disarming smile and luscious desserts. Sofie's determined to stay strong, but with her current lust interest, enigmatic Australian bounty hunter Jake Porter temporarily AWOL, Dino is quickly becoming a tough dish of hunky male to resist. Luckily for Sofie, her work at her uncle Spyros's detective agency is providing the perfect distraction. The NY Mets are charging toward the World Series, led by charismatic switch-pitcher Reni Venezuela, but Gisela Venezuela, Reni's wife, thinks something is wrong with her husband, and she wants Sofie to investigate. Sofie's convinced that it's just another routine cheating spouse case, but cheating isn't what worries Gisela; she claims that the man living in her house is acting like a stranger wearing a Reni suit. As Sofie digs deeper into Reni's past, the questions keep mounting. The man she's following looks like Reni and pitches like Reni, but her gut keeps telling her there's more to the situation than a little marital discord. Even worse, if Gisela is right, and the current Reni is an imposter, where is the real Reni? FOUL PLAY, the third installment of the Sofie Metropolis series, is an entertaining romp with the smart-mouthed P.I.. The writing team of Lori and Tony Karayianni have created an intelligent and resourceful heroine that you can't help rooting for, and the supporting cast is delightful, adding both humor and depth to the story. Dino is mouthwatering as Sofie's new love interest, and I loved listening to Sofie's internal battle between what her mind wants and what her body demands. This book is sure to inspire both laughter and hunger pangs. Fans of the previous two Sofie Metropolis mysteries will not want to miss FOUL PLAY.

SUMMARY

In Foul Play, Sofie’s searching for a couple of hot prospects, one in her personal life and one professionally. The New York Mets might just be on their way to the World Series, but their newly signed pitching phenom has disappeared with the playoffs fast approaching.
As for her personal life, Sofie’s hooking up with a gorgeous Greek who is every bit as hunky as her long-time crush, Australian mystery man Jake Porter-—and a lot more available.
