Mystery Amateur Sleuth | Mystery

Jennifer Shane has two older siblings. Her brother is the sheriff and her sister owns a successful scrapbooking business in their small town of Rebel Forge, Virginia. Jennifer originally tried to set up her cardmaking business with her sister, but she knew right away it wasn't going to work. As much as Jennifer loves her older brother and sister, she's ready to stand on her own two feet and make her own decisions, which means she has to speak up for herself with these two loving, but intrusive siblings. So, Jennifer decides to open her own business.

On Jennifer's first day of business, she gets a contract to design wedding invitations, as well as a misdialed phone call from a young woman who begs for her help so that a woman doesn't kill her. Jennifer listens helplessly as the woman says she's about to be murdered, screams, and then the phone line goes dead.

Startled and nervous, Jennifer tells her brother about the call. Before long, a body is discovered, and Jennifer receives a note warning her to back off. But Jennifer knows she must help solve this murder as someone has personally involved her. Jennifer's sister moves in with her and her brother assigns someone to watch her, leaving Jennifer feeling overly protected. She asks her vivacious aunt to assist her in the card shop so she can snoop around on her own, but her aunt wants to help, too.

Jennifer discovers that the victim was to be the maid-of- honor in the very wedding she's designing invitations for. With a clue she discovers near the victim, Jennifer uses the process of elimination to run through the list of potential culprits she and her aunt have drawn up.

INVITATION TO MURDER is a first-person account of Jennifer's loving and humorous family, an ex-boyfriend who wants to protect her, and a few creepy guys along the way. Bright amuses her readers with spunky humor, as well as treating us to card-making tips throughout the story. This is a light, refreshing mystery good for any summer evening.
