Paranormal | Romance Paranormal

Lisa's grandmother, Li Na, recites many dragon stories and tales of lucky magic throughout her childhood. Lisa spends most of her time during the stories asking questions that Li Na answers with "All will reveal itself in time." When Li Na dies, Lisa moves into her home. While exploring her memories there, she opens up the spare bedroom door and finds Caleb, a beautiful golden dragon, in residence. After the initial shock of realizing she has a pet dragon, she begins to rely on him for companionship.

Caleb's enslavement by three witches involves watching over Lisa to make sure no harm comes to her. Unfortunately, the witches do not trust him, so he's unable to step into the human world to protect her properly. He's fully aware that her life is in danger from Malcolm, the black dragon, who needs Lisa and the orb she possesses to gain his freedom and return to his own world.

While running from Malcolm and certain danger, Lisa begins to notice changes in herself, including a powerful magic she has difficulty controlling and that her relationship with Caleb is more complicated than she originally thought. Their task is daunting, but all will reveal itself in time.

Allyson James' (aka Jennifer Ashley) first book in her new Dragon series is fascinating and absolutely intriguing. I'm in complete awe of where she took my imagination. And I am waiting in anticipation for the next Dragon book.

EXCERPT

Chapter Three Lisa scrambled off the couch and put her hands on his well- muscled shoulders. โ€œYou canโ€™t go yet. Itโ€™s the middle of the night and you need clothes. If you get arrested for indecent exposure, there go your chances of finding the black dragon. And when they look up your records and find out you donโ€™t exist, who knows what could happen to you?โ€ He watched her with blue eyes that held determination and a hint of sadness. โ€œThen Lisa-ling, let us find me clothes.โ€ He started to move away, and she sank her fingers into his arms. โ€œI will find them tomorrow, when the stores open. For now, you stay here.โ€ His brows quirked. โ€œWith you?โ€ โ€œYes, with me,โ€ she said nervously. She turned around and picked up the remote. โ€œWe can still catch that Conan Oโ€™Brien if you want.โ€ He plucked the remote from her hand and tossed it aside. โ€œI can think of much better things to do.โ€ He slid his arms around her and pulled her against his broad chest. Emotions raged through his eyes, worry, the need to protect her, curiosity, amazement at his venture into the human world, and desire, very strong desire. Lisa had only just met him, just gotten used to the fact that he was human, this human. But no, sheโ€™d known him a long time. Every day for months Calebโ€™s voice had soothed her as he encouraged her to tell him everything that had happened to her, what worried her, what made her happy. Heโ€™d sympathized with her hardships and rejoiced with her joys. Heโ€™d let her lean against his golden scales and cry when she needed to. Heโ€™d been there for her more than any other man--any other friend--had ever been. Even the days when she curled up silently next to him, letting his dragon warmth take the chill from the room, were comfortable. Theyโ€™d watch television together, sharing popcorn, his sarcastic comments about the shows making her laugh. Now he was here, her friend, the person who had shared joys and sorrows for half a year. โ€œCaleb.โ€ She cupped his cheek in her palm and kissed him. He moved his lips tentatively in response to hers, obviously uncertain what to do.
