Nehemiah Trust left Shibboleth, Alabama after the death of
his mother. His brother, Billy dropped him in Washington,
DC where he built a very successful life as top aide to a
senator. His shock when Billy and an old girlfriend,
Trice, show up on his doorstep is strengthened when he
learns that they expect him to drop everything and return
to Shibboleth.
Something strange is happening in Shibboleth. The town
which once contained many wonders is drying up. The
springs which once were a playground for children are gone
and there have been other strange and unexplained events.
This book has been peopled with some unique and wonderfully
strange characters. Billy is a laid back individual who
does what he is told, when he is told. Nehemiah has become
a person who wants to deny his heritage and his unusual
gifts but the draw of Shibboleth can't be denied. Trice is
an off-beat character who has dreams which lead her to act
in ways that others consider odd.
With a lot of mysticism and spiriuality, Ms. Jordan tells a
southern tale which will intrigue and confound the reader.
This is a tale of redemption, of forgiveness, of love, and
the battle between good and evil. Narrated by a character
who isn't identified until the end of the book, we see both
the good and bad of the town where three people will have
to battle forces they don't understand with the unwitting
help of a few other townsfolk. Prepare to be charmed,
mystified and intrigued!
Twelve years have passed since Nehemiah Trust left his
hometown of Shibboleth, Alabama. Now a successful aide in
Washington DC, Nehemiah is shocked when his brother Billy
and high-school girlfriend Trice show up on his doorstep
warning that something is stealing the life of what should
be their idyllic hometown. Billy and Trice are convinced
that only Nehemiah can help. As the three friends join
together to save the place they call home, they learn the
solution may require a willingness to sacrifice everything.
