Chloe Degodessa is a muse and the daughter of Zeus. Chloe and her two muse sisters have angered their father and he's sent them away from Mount Olympus on a mission to Earth. Apparently, Chloe and her sisters have not been living up to their father's expectations for a few centuries and he's given them each one final task -- to do something that nobly inspires mankind.
If they fulfill their mission, the sisters can return to Mount Olympus and live in splendor for eternity. If they do not, they'll remain on Earth and die as mere mortals. Zeus hands down one additional instruction: The muses are not to fall in love with any mortals while carrying out their jobs.
Chloe lands at historic Castleberry Hall in Chicago. She befriends the owner, 83-year-old Belle, and secures a job planning weddings and special events at the property. She works alongside Clark Parrott, owner and chef of Queer Food for the Straight Dude, as he prepares delectable food for all the events.
Since Clark is not going to complicate Zeus' final instruction about Chloe falling in love, the plot needs a hunky, straight man: enter Matt Castleberry, Belle's grandson. Matt is a surgeon and has just returned from a two-year mission to Africa. While Chloe and Matt are instantly suspicious of each other, he seems mesmerized by her ample curves. This sets the stage for all sorts of hormone-driven drama befitting a demigoddess and a potential mortal love interest.
ONE NIGHT WITH A GODDESS is a campy, fun little read. It's as breezy as the winds on Mount Olympus. As the Muse of Happiness, Chloe made this reader happy. It's a light- hearted, quick read for those seeking a reprieve from the "real" world.
