Tanya Bigelow contacts Dr. Alex Delaware for a therapy session because her mother, Patty, on her death bed, has confessed to killing someone. Tanya feels Alex is the only one she can trust to help her. Alex promises Tanya he will look into Patty's claims; he begins with her co-workers and his file of sessions with Tanya when she was a child.
Alex's investigation uncovers a web of deceit and violent crimes that stretch over nine years, beginning with Patty's obsession of providing for Tanya. With every decision she makes, she sets the course for the inevitable ending. Each lead Alex follows is more confusing and difficult to grasp than the one before. The truth will surprise them all.
I was pleasantly surprised and totally intrigued with the refreshing writing style of this crime novel. At first, I had a hard time figuring out the flow, but once I got it, I could not put the book down. I became obsessed with trying to figure out where the author was going next in the investigation.
