In this second book of The Bridesmaid Chronicles, we meet Kiki Douglas, the groom's sister. Kiki, an actress, has just lost her part on the soap All My Children. When Kiki decides to drown her sorrows with some medicinal credit card abuse, she meets New York's most envied super couple, Tom and Kirstin Brock. He's the heartthrob whose Sinatra- esque crooning turns women's insides to jelly, and she's the sweet-faced starlet you just know could be your best friend. As Kiki enters a dressing room, a charm falls off her bracelet, right between the feet of Tom. When she bends to pick it up, the click of a camera signals the end of her life as she knows it.
Fabrizio Tomba has kept a lot of secrets. As the owner of New York's swanky new hotel, Affairs, Fab has had numerous famous people walk through his doors, many on the arms of someone not their significant other, and he doesn't pass judgment. After all, they keep him in business. But his good humor is put to the test when Kiki Douglas walks through his door. Only that morning, a picture of her kneeling between Tom's legs graced the cover of several newspapers. Fab isn't sure that hers is the kind of publicity he wants.
After convincing Fab that she's not having an affair with Tom, Kiki persuades him to let her stay in his hotel until the fever dies down. As they get to know each other better, the sparks start to fly, and Kiki realizes that Fab might just be the only man who can handle her. Will she be able to get this commitment-phobe to see that they were made for each other?
Kiki is self-absorbed and selfish, and at the beginning I did not find her a very likable character. But as the story unfolds and we get to know her better, I found that she really is a good girl with a good heart, it's just misplaced sometimes.
New Jersey new money meets Texas landed gentry when Julia
