Romance Historical

Once a river rat, Lady Simone Turnbridge's life changes dramatically when she's acknowledged as the duke's illegitimate daughter in his will. Made the ward of the current duke, she's endured endless tutors for years before making her bow to society. Having spent most of her childhood around brothels, Simone has no patience for society or the men. Simone plans an independent life filled to the brim with impetuous acts and adventure. There will not be a husband in her future, only lovers of her choosing. While escaping a fire, Simone gets her first taste of desire when she meets Tristan Townsend. Tristan Townsend fled England and his drunken father's rage years ago. Receiving word that all the male members of his family are dead, Tristan returns home to accept the duties of his title. Lying in wait is his stepmother with her usual vicious behavior. Tristan welcomes the distraction Simone presents. Never before has he met a lady who brazenly admits her desire and her possible willingness for an affair. Simone is a definite temptation worth any scandal. Intrigue interrupts their seduction and demands Tristan re- confront the "Lockwood curse." Drawn into this web of intrigue, Simone battles her recklessness and her inability to embrace love. Ms. LaFoy gives readers an impetuous and headstrong heroine who meets her match with an equally dangerous hero. Plenty of action and drama with this perfect odd couple as the story builds to an exciting twist at the end.

SUMMARY

Tristan Townsend has come home to London to assume his duties as the Marquis of Lockwood after all the men in his family have died. Desperate to rid himself of the “Lockwood curse” and restore his family’s honor, marriage is the furthest thing from Tristan’s mind…until he lays eyes on an enchanting stranger and vows to make her his… Lady Simone Turnbridge—beautiful, bold, and with a scandalous past—is not eager to be some wealthy man’s bride. Some men want her hand in marriage; others merely want her in their beds. She mocks them all with a twinkle in her eye, knowing not one of them can tame her… Tristan will do anything to have Simone in his bed and his ring on her finger. Simone, who has sworn to let no man control her, is held in thrall by her fascination with this forbidden Lockwood. But it’s too late to walk away now—when the promise of passion is so wanton, wicked, and thoroughly wonderful….
