Romance Suspense | Suspense

Grace Mackenzie loves her job as a curator for a respected art gallery in Philadelphia but she needs a change -- and fast. She arranges to see her father in California when her plans are interrupted by a surprising visit from her ex- fiancé's mother, whom she has not seen in over 10 years. This woman informs her that her son, Steven, has died and willed Grace his art gallery. Instead of traveling to California, Grace heads to New Hope, Pennsylvania, the location of Steven's gallery, hoping to quickly dispense with this inheritance.

New Hope is an artistic town enriched with eastern history and small town values. It is big enough to have an art gallery on every corner and yet small enough for everyone to know everyone and their business. Crime is practically non-existent except for the disappearance of a teenage girl in 1986. Steven's death sets off a chain of events that has the town on edge and uncovers 20 years of lies and deception; which not only ties Grace to the community, but also to those who grew up there.

I extremely enjoyed this intriguing and sexy read!! The way the characters are introduced to the reader one by one allows us to get to know and understand each of them intimately. I strongly suggest this book to anyone who likes to guess "who done it." Ms. Heggan will definitely be missed in this industry, as this is her final novel.

SUMMARY

Museum curator Grace McKenzie is shocked when she receives word that her ex-fiance, Steven Hatfield, has been murdered. In his will, Steven has left her his art gallery in New Hope, Pennsylvania. Anticipating that she would turn down the bequest, he asked that she spend a week at the gallery before making her final decision. Motivated by a sense of duty to a man she once loved, Grace agrees to go to New Hope for one week.

She isn't the only person drawn to the small town. FBI agent Matt Baxter has returned to his hometown for one reason only -- to clear his father of a bogus murder charge. While he and Grace seek answers, they discover that beneath the surface of this charming, peaceful town lies an old secret a few of its citizens would rather keep buried. And when their search takes an unexpected turn, they have only hours to find out where the truth lies -- or be buried with it.
