Kayla Sheridan finds herself caught up in the notion of
happily ever after. Believing she has found her prince in
Nick Granville, she marries him after a three-week
romance. When Nick disappears on their wedding night, she
is determined to find out what happened to him. Her
investigation takes her nightly past Nick's house, and
when she sees a light on one night, she stops. The door
opens and she comes face to face with a man she does not
recognize, but claims to be Nick Granville. If this is
Nick Granville, then whom did she marry?
Nick Granville returns home from a three-month trip to
Africa to find signs of habitation in his house. He sees
wine glasses on the table, unfamiliar food in the kitchen,
and women's perfume and lipstick in his bedroom. There
are also numerous messages on his answering machine from
someone named Kayla. Who is she and why does she act like
she knows him? Furthermore, who took over his life while
he was out of the country?
Together, Nick and Kayla, follow clues that will lead them
to the man that is determined to ruin both of their
lives. They have to delve deeper into the past to
determine the motive for the present. Will they be able
to stay one step ahead of the man who is after them? Will
they be able to walk away with their lives?
Barbara Freethy takes you on an exciting adventure as
Kayla and Nick try to find the man who has betrayed them
both. TAKEN is fast paced and it is hard to put down. I
thoroughly enjoyed the story, and since this one is open
ended, I am anticipating the sequel.
When her husband disappears on their wedding night, Kayla
fears that she's been an easy mark for deception. Then she
meets Nick, a stranger who also crossed paths with Kayla's
husband. Together Kayla and Nick embark on a journey to
uncover the secrets of their pasts-and the motives of a
