She stepped from the bathroom, into the hall and sucked in
a breath of shock. Her hand tightened on her wine glass.
Kyle stood with a broad shoulder resting against the wall,
blocking the way toward the kitchen, living area and other
guests. The hallway behind her only led to bedrooms. Not a
place she wanted to go.
He’d been waiting for her. She wasn’t foolish enough to
think otherwise. A shiver whispered across her nape and
down her back from Kyle’s hooded gaze. He shoved off the
wall and moved toward her, his gait smooth and filled with
power and confidence. The knit material of his shirt
stretched across a wide, muscled chest, while his worn
jeans clung to narrow hips and strong, lean thighs. Her
gaze stumbled over the bulge of his jeans and lifted.
Breath growing shallow, she stared into his hot
gaze without flinching, but desire bloomed in her belly and
her breasts tightened with awareness. She’d never stop
wanting him.
"Why?" he asked.
At his bald question, she stiffened. "We went
through this before."
"We can work around it."
"How? The rules are pretty simple in the
company handbook. No fraternizing. That would be dating,
hooking up, or whatever you want to call it." She took a
swallow of wine. Now if she could just get really drunk, he
might not have this power of turning her body into
liquid.
"The handbook was made years ago when they were having
problems with the dancers and players. And it was actually
one player and his wife, and of course the pregnant
cheerleader. You’re in administration."
"You’re forgetting about that other couple six months
before I started working. Both of them were fired."
"Rumors only. Could have easily been for something else."
"Well, I’m not about to test your theory. My job’s
important to me. I didn’t spend four years of college and
another four in accounting to toss it all away."
He stepped toward her. "No one has to know. What we do
together is our business, no one else’s."
"That’s your opinion." She hitched up her
chin. "Maybe I’m just not that into you like all your
cheerleading groupies."
She’d known Kyle for almost four years through
Tiffany, but during those years she’d intentionally kept
away from him because she hadn’t wanted to be added to the
long list of women vying for his attention both in and out
of bed, and she’d been doing fine until she’d started
working for the Leopard’s Football Company. But at work,
she’d found it near impossible to avoid him, and after four
months on the job, to her horror, she’d caved into her
attraction.
"Really?" His gaze narrowed and locked on
hers, his expression deadly serious. "So that would explain
your reaction just last Saturday? Screaming with pure
boredom as you rode me?"
She gaped at him. Before she found the ability to protest,
he took the glass from her nerveless fingers. Finally she
managed to formulate a reply. "Your memory is faulty."
His expression turned incredulous as he drank
the remnants of her wine, set the glass on an alcove to his
side, and moved until inches separated their bodies. Heat
radiated from Kyle and warmed the flesh beneath her
clothing. A picture flashed in her mind of last Saturday.
She’d loved every second of being on top of him as he
thrust in and out of her. The idea of doing it again
tightened her breasts with longing. She forced herself not
to back up and show just how rattled she was.
"Care to prove it?" His palm glided over her
upper arm.
The tips of her breasts grazed his chest. Jade swallowed
and inched to the side until she brushed up along the
wall. "I don’t have to prove a thing."
"Really?" Again he crowded closer until her
back pressed against the wall. The heat of his erection
prodded her belly. Images burned through her mind of him
naked above her, the muscles of his shoulders and arms
flexing as he raised his body to drive into her. These last
two month she’d found out just how fantastic in bed he was.
The way he used his body, his hands, his mouth, his tongue.
How he’d filled, stretched her.
She balled her hands at her sides to fight against the
desperate urge to touch him. If he hadn’t taken the glass
from her hand earlier, wine would now be seeping into the
carpet.
His lips brushed her temple, his chest grazed her breasts,
and oh, God…his cock. Hard, unmistakable and mind numbing.
Desire rushed through her limbs. To her horror, she arched
against the thick length in reflex and clutched at his
arms, unable to halt her quick intake of breath or her
body’s unbidden reaction.
"You need to stop." Her words came out far weaker than she
intended. "Jerry or someone else from the company could
walk down the hall any second and see us."
"Strange." he whispered, the deep husky timber of his
voice holding what suspiciously sounded like
amusement. "I’m getting some really mixed signals from you.
Your mouth is saying one thing while your body… Now your
body is saying something far different."
She started to object again but the words dissolved when he
lifted her leg to rest against his hip and glided a hand up
the back of her thigh and beneath her skirt to cup her bare
ass. When he molded his fingers around the flesh and inched
beneath the strap of her thong, desire clenched at her gut
and a whimper of longing escaped her lips.
"Speaking of mouths. You have the most delicious one.
You’re one of the best damn kissers."
"Don’t." A feeble protest when Jade couldn’t
find the will to push Kyle away, or for that matter take
her hands off his biceps. Instead, she wanted to delve
beneath his shirt, touch the corded muscles of his stomach,
chest, then probe lower. She stared at the strong column of
his throat where his navy polo-shirt opened at the collar.
Many a time she’d pressed her lips over the warm, smooth
skin and felt the drum of his pulse. The urge to do it now
surged through her.
"Don’t what? Touch you?" His other hand
whispered across the sensitive curve of her neck as he
glided his thumb across the sweep of her jaw. "Kiss you?"
His lips grazed the corner of her mouth, hinting at a
pleasure she’d tried to block from her mind. The faint
sound of laughter drifted from the other part of the house.
"There’s people around," she murmured against his lips but
didn’t attempt to draw away.
"That’s easy enough." With a shuddering breath, he slipped
his hand from her bottom and eased away from her
body. "Come on."
Before she had the chance to protest, he clasped her wrist
and tugged her the few feet into the bathroom.
