Re: Burning Skies

Soaring up into the Heavens. How wonderful would that be?
(Mary Preston 2:47am June 24, 2011)

I am new to vampire stories. I would like to see what all the buzz is about. My friend is addicted to them.

What joy it must bring to an author to present a series of books.

What a fantastic gift yo have, thank you for sharing it with us. New book sounds great!

Being able to fly and seeing everything! :)

Btw, I read Ascension last week and really enjoy reading it. Carrie is a great character. :) Although I am really fascinated by the commander too. Yes, he's a bad guy but he seems so interesting too. :)

I would love to have a true birds eye view. It would be really something to see what they see.
I would love to read your books, they sound really good.

Debbie Penny 8:46am June 24, 2011)

I loved the first two books so I know I will love the third..cannot wait to read it....Thank you!!!

I would love to have wings to fly over traffic jams!
(

I'm always open to new experiences and new ideas. I'd love to read your book!
(
Holly Caulfield 9:07am June 24, 2011)

Caris, your books are fabulous (and hot) just like you. I
can't wait to read the next one.

Did you create the spreadsheet because you're writing a
series or do you do that with all your books?
(
Linda Andrews 9:41am June 24, 2011)

I am a big fan of Paranormal Romance and your books sound good. I am new to you as an author but I will be getting your book even if I don't win :0)

Being able to fly through the peaceful beautiful sky!
(
Dawn Staniszeski 10:07am June 24, 2011)

Good morning, everyone! Thank you for all the great comments! Flight would be an incredible experience, whether it's above traffic jams (oh..yeah) or to have that bird's eye view or to fly into the heavens. My warriors do battle while in flight, at times, so those scenes are a challenge to write. But I think the more intriguing flight scenes are the ones where someone is learning. I really try to give a feeling for what it would be like to use your wings for the first time. It's been a kick.

May, you said you were fascinated by the Commander, which of course makes me very happy! He's a really bad guy but I know exactly how he got wounded and it was horrible. That wound makes us feel for him and even to some degree makes us wish his future would be different. At the same time, he has this 'gentleman' persona so at odds with his ease at taking out as many good ascenders as needed in order to accomplish his world domination goals.

As for the spreadsheets, Linda, I've always used them in one form or another, but with this series they've become critical. For instance, I have a column that says 'phones', since all the characters use different phones. In addition, the warriors have their 'warrior-phones' that connect them to Central...and on and on it goes!

And Marjorie, you're exactly right! It's an enormous joy to create a series and an even bigger one when I hear from fans who tell me that they're addicted. My response? I'm 'addicted' to writing the series!

Blessings,
Caris

Caris Roane 10:16am June 24, 2011)

Hmmm I'd have to say that my favourite part about having wings of my own would be the travel opportunities! just think, no more having to pay for expensive flights, you could just take off and go anywhere! Plus you could give people excellent hugs with both your arms and wings!:) P.S I totally love this series!:)
(
Dawn Gallantine 10:18am June 24, 2011)

I love the idea of being able to go anywhere at a moment's whim. That feeling of euphoria you talk about would be the ultimate excitement as I love to envision the places I read about. How much better would it be to be able to get there almost immediately?
(
Renee Brown 10:25am June 24, 2011)

I would love to be able to just fly where and when I want..I would love a chance to win this book..I even shared my copies of the first and second books with my sister..Thank you!!!
(
Leisa Prater 10:31am June 24, 2011)

A friend recommended Ascension to me and I loved it! I've just gotten Burning Skies and can't wait to read it!
(
Michelle Unger 10:41am June 24, 2011)

I'd love to fly across the ocean or over a rainbow!
(
Minhchieu Tran 10:55am June 24, 2011)

Flying/Floating among the clouds...to see the sun rise and sunset from that view would be heaven. Also I read a story one time where an angel took a girl dancing over the ocean, her feet were able to touch the water, I think that would be so much fun. Also wing to me promise freedom it would be so nice.
(
Sara Correa 11:02am June 24, 2011)

I would love to fly around mountain peaks. Especially when they are all misty.
(
Joan Richard 11:10am June 24, 2011)

I'm still trying to get over the "new ways to enhance all sorts of *ahem* physical experiences." That phrase just leads me to all kinds of conclusions!

The first thing I though of if I had wings....to soar over a majestic body of water that is surrounded by a bountiful forest of greenery.
(
Cynthia Netherton 11:28am June 24, 2011)

lovin ur books!!! cant wait to see where u take everyone!!!
(
Amanda Lawrence 11:41am June 24, 2011)

Again, I'm LOVING all these wonderful comments! I think I asked the right question because everyone is soooo inspired today and now I'm feeling inspired.

I'm writing the fifth book of the series, and all of this talk of wings and flight makes me want to get Warrior Thorne and his woman into the skies! I think inspiration comes from so many remarkable places and all this interaction for me is fantastic! Thorne in the skies...now there's a sight. The man is GORGEOUS! You know, there ought to be a way for authors to download these visions straight into the minds of readers...but for now we have to rely on mere words...LOL!

Vickie, thank you! I hope you enjoy the series!
Dawn...oh, yeah, being wrapped up in both arms and wings...sigh! (But I also like your practical side: no more travel costs if you can just take to the skies!)
Renee, I'm so with you on the immediacy factor, which means you and I actually might prefer dematerialization to flight. Now that would be a hard choice!!!
Leisa, don't you love books because you can just pass them along, this wonderful gift you put in the hands of someone you care about? I know the digital format is the future...whatever...but I can't imagine a day when I prefer holding an e-reader to having the feel of a book in my hands...
Michelle...yay!!! BURNING SKIES has one of my favorite opening lines: "Got a death wish, handsome?" (Endelle asks this of Marcus...)
Minhchieu, the ocean and a rainbow...beautiful...I'm with you! Let's fly now!
Sara, the sunrise or sunset among the clouds! What an image!
And Joan...same thing, mist and mountain peaks and flight. I think I might have some fabulous dreams tonight. I certainly have some new images to work into my upcoming books!

More blessings,
Caris
(
Caris Roane 11:46am June 24, 2011)

I love the plot & characters in the 1st book! Kerrick is yummy! I am a big fan of the paranormal genre and believe you deliver the punch and romance I like in my reading.
(
Marcelle Cole 12:28pm June 24, 2011)

My favorite part of having wings would hopefully be that I would lack my current fear of heights. Hubby loves hiking/climbing/skiing but I see exposed trails and blanch.
(
G. Bisbjerg 12:40pm June 24, 2011)

I can't wait to meet these "hunky warrior vampires" and delve into their world. The best part about having my own set of wings is the freedom I would get, being able to get to places in a snap and really, REALLY seeing the world in a new way. What an experience. I just hope my fear of heights will naturally go away with my wings.
(
Na S 1:22pm June 24, 2011)

I like the idea of flying and being wherever I need to be (my familylives
far from me),of traveling (airlines are getting high in their pricing), but I
also think that they would be comforting... Soft and enveloping so that
would be my favorite part of having them, healing almost.
(
Carla Carlson 1:26pm June 24, 2011)

Your books sound fabulous. Will have to check them out.

Everyone has already mentioned all my reasons for wanting to fly, but here they are anyway: fly above traffic, be able to take off at a moments notice without paying airfare and messing with the airlines, overcoming my fear of heights, and just be able to see everything down below.
(
Cathy Phillips 1:39pm June 24, 2011)

This is a refreshing new series with captivating twists on the conventional vampires we are used to. If you are looking for something new, exciting and STEAMY...vampires with wings like an angel *fans myself* You will feel instantly attached to these characters ... Just get them NOW!!

**I read the first book in one day, I could not put it down!!
(
Melissa Berlese 1:42pm June 24, 2011)

Having wings... that would be interesting! Just think of what you would be able to see up in the sky... and no lights and traffic to deal with! :)
(
Colleen Conklin 2:26pm June 24, 2011)

Oh to be able to fly...how could anyone not want to glide and soar through the skies. Just sounds glorious. As do your books! Sounds like an exciting series.
(
Jeanne Sheats 2:33pm June 24, 2011)

**Cynthia - and those 'conclusions' would be right! When it comes to paranormal I get a little crazy...and it's soooo much fun!

**Amanda - so glad you're lovin' my books! I think you'll be surprised 'where we go'. The concept of preternatural power just keeps expanding...and of course, ultimately, we have six worlds to explore!

**Marcelle - the second book, BURNING SKIES, explores a little bit of the relationship between Mortal Earth and Second Earth, what the connections are. In each book, I work hard to expand the world...it's blast!

**G. Bisbjerg - you and me both! When I write, I can be and do anything...now in real life?!? I confess I'm the biggest chicken ever! But wouldn't it be fun to have no fear and to just soar!

**Na - I love that concept...seeing the world in an entirely new way. That would be awesome! As for your fear of heights: you, me and G. Bisbjerg!

**Carla - yes, the comfort of wings! Another commenter wrote about how great a hug would be with both arms and wings. Then there's warmth! If you needed to get warmed up, you could mount your wings and get all wrapped up! Possibilities are endless!

**Cathy - I get the feeling you're a no-nonsense, practical kind of person...and wouldn't it be so convenient to mount your wings and get a job done!

**Melissa - thank you so much for all that enthusiasm! Nothing makes me happier than hearing that a reader couldn't put the book down! Hooray! When I hear that, I always feel, more than anything, that I've done my job as a writer...so thank you for that!!! *blows kisses*

And thanks to everyone for the great comments! It's such a pleasure!

Desiree Reilly 3:25pm June 24, 2011)

I think it would be awesome to have wings and be able to fly through the sky. I enjoy your books so much that I have read them both 3 times already, and I know as each one comes out I will have to revisit them again... LOL.

Your such a talented author. I can't wait for more!
(
Crystal Evans 4:23pm June 24, 2011)

I'm sorry to say that I have not read your books, they sound wonderful.I would love to be able to fly through the sky, like a bird. Thanks for giving me a chance to win your book.
(
Linda Hall 4:49pm June 24, 2011)

I would love to feel the freedom of flying "untouchable" in the air. Not tied to the ground. It must be wonderfully freeing to have the air surrounding you.

Thanks for the giveaway. I love your books.
(
Patti Paonessa 4:53pm June 24, 2011)

I absolutely ADORE your books! The Ascension world you've built is fabulous and so intriguing :) I've read them all and am waiting with baited breath for Wings of Fire!

I'd have to say that my favorite part of having wings would be the flying/floating sex! Your characters have experienced it a bit - and I hope they get more of it lol!
(
Christine Rowlands 4:57pm June 24, 2011)

It sounds like your writing brings you a lot of joy.
(
Maureen Emmons 5:21pm June 24, 2011)

it sounds like a great story!! can't wait to read!!!
(
Jennifer Beck 6:12pm June 24, 2011)

I had rather read about someone with wings, than have them.
(
Sheila True 6:13pm June 24, 2011)

Hi, again, everyone!

I'm really enjoying all the comments!

**Colleen, I hadn't thought of that. I live in the Phoenix area and there's so much light pollution you can't see the stars. But if you could fly, you'd be out of the city in minutes and then what a view you'd have!

**Jeanne, I'm so with you on that, to be able to glide and soar. I think it would be a phenomenal sensation of freedom!

**Melissa, well, then, keep obsessing because that makes two of us!

**Desiree, I think my pub house has done a wonderful job on the covers! Because ASCENSION was all in blue, I built my website around all that beauty!

**Crystal, it's so great to hear you say you've read and reread my books! That's just awesome! I love my warriors, their women, and the world I've built for them. It's gratifying to know that you're taking pleasure in my world as well!

**Linda, flying would be awesome, wouldn't it? Some of the most fun scenes to write are those when I try to conjure that feeling and put my characters in flight! I hope you enjoy the series!

**Patti, so glad to hear that you love my books! Yay! As you've described flying, I'm reminded of what it's like to float in a pool, when suddenly you feel weightless. When your wings catch air and you hover in the air as we see the big hawks and eagles do, it must be like that, like just floating and as you said, 'wonderfully freeing'.

**Christine, then you're sure to enjoy WINGS OF FIRE, but I won't say more! ;-)

**Maureen, you've said it exactly, my writing brings me a lot of joy, perhaps more so now than ever because I have wonderful fans who express their enjoyment of the series as well!

A whole heap of blessings,
Caris
(
Caris Roane 6:29pm June 24, 2011)

The best part would be using them to fly.
(
Leni Kaye 7:48pm June 24, 2011)

Yes, I would love to have wings to fly high like an Eagle in the pretty blue sky and travel all over the world and make Friends all over the world too. You have a nice smile in your picture too. May GOD Bless YOU with success in your writing and Thank YOU for entering me in your great contest too. I love to enter and win contests from freshfiction.com
Thanks and GOD Bless everyone, Cecilia
(
Cecilia Dunbar Hernandez 8:21pm June 24, 2011)

Just to let you know much i love reading Ascension and Buring Skies. So fresh and original and your discription of their wings i feel as though i could reach out and touch them! Can't wait to read the rest of the series and see how the rest of the characters evolve.
(
Narelle Padley 8:46pm June 24, 2011)

Oh, I have thought about this question. I would love to be able to wrap them around myself and my husband and children. That would be so cool!
(
Jennifer Beyer 9:41pm June 24, 2011)

I have to say that the covers of your books are exquisite, your blog was delightful to read, and I'm very anxious to read your book. I loved the way you described your characters!! It takes imagination as well as talent to come up with your characters as well as the storyline. Best of luck with your book, although I know it's going to do well!!
(
Peggy Roberson 10:17pm June 24, 2011)

Hi, again!

It must be late for some of you since it's 7:00pm out her in the west, Arizona that is!

**Jennifer Beck, I hope you enjoy reading the series! Can't wait for you to try ASCENSION and see if it's your cup of tea!

**Sheila, your comment cracked me up, very down to earth, honest, and probably fairly accurate. I can see you wiggling your back now and being annoyed with your wings! I'll be honest, too! I write about all sorts of things but do I actually want to experience them?!? NO!!! As I said, earlier, I'm one of the biggest chickens around!

**Leni, absolutely...flight would be the best part! The second best is what Christine suggested! ;-)

**Cecilia, God bless you as well! I love that when you would fly, you'd want to make friends all over the world.

**Narelle, so glad you loved reading ASCENSION and BURNING SKIES! The wings have been so much fun to describe and to write. That you feel as though you could reach out and touch them pleases me to no end. Of course, this world becomes so real to me that I swear I expect to turn around and find Marcus or Kerrick standing there, ready to ask me something! It's been such a fun ride!

**Jennifer Beyer, wrapping up your family in your wings is such an awesome image. I just know it will work its way into one of the forthcoming books!

A double heap of blessings,
Caris
(
Caris Roane 10:19pm June 24, 2011)

Are you kidding. The best part about having wings would be the flying, soaring over the earth. Or maybe the cuddling, wrapping up inside them, or maybe some high flying, adrenaline pumping . . . ah, I better keep this rated G :-) Can't wait for the new book, Caris!
(
Alexis Walker 10:38pm June 24, 2011)

My favorite part about having wings would be to avoid rush hour traffic!
Good luck and happy writing!
(
Tracie Travis 11:46pm June 24, 2011)

My favorite part of having wings would be to have complete control while flying.
(
Lisa Kendall 1:25am June 25, 2011)

Wing control and a wingman reminds me of hockey and the special communication that goes on between the players when they know where the puck will be. I love your "cheat sheet."
(
Alyson Widen 10:09am June 25, 2011)

Hi, again, everyone!
I wanted to thank Fresh Fiction for having me here! It was great to meet some new folks and to greet some beloved fans and friends who posted as well! YOU ROCK!!!

I absolutely love writing this series...it has my heart, one hundred percent! Know that, and know that I think of my readers all the time!

So, one final chat:

**Peggy, the covers, I know, right? I've been truly blessed with all that talent in the art dept. at St. Martin's! I hope you enjoy my series!

**Alexis! You're a darling! How's the water out there in paradise?!? Miss you so much at VOS...when are you coming home? ***tears in eyes*** :-)

**Tracie, AMEN!

**Lisa, wouldn't it be fabulous, all that control?

**Alyson, it's a very good thing that in my world most ascenders can communicate telepathically...in flight, that's indispensable given 'wind conditions'...LOL! It's so much fun to twist all the laws of the known universe to suit me. Hope you take to my hunky winged vampires!

A great mountain of blessings to all!
XO,
Caris
(
Caris Roane 12:21pm June 25, 2011)

This sounds great. Series books are fun they keep you in there waiting for the next so you can find out what is going on. Just love these and this sound great.
(
Diane Castiglione 6:14pm June 25, 2011)

I'd love wings for the freedom of flying. Plus they'd be super, super, super cool. Ascension sounds really good!
