Allan Borushek

Allan Borushek is a dietitian, biochemist and health educator with over 30 years experience in clinical dietetics, community health education, and public speaking. He is the founder and President of the Family Health Network, a leading publisher, software developer and applications service provider, and has authored and published several books on weight control, heart disease prevention, and diabetes. He is best known for his ‘Top 100’ annual best-seller, The Doctor's Pocket Calorie, Fat & Carb Counter, which has sold more than 10 million copies. Mr. Borushek has received several awards for his health education work in the prevention and treatment of obesity, heart disease and diabetes. He is also the recipient of the National Health Information Award for The Doctor's Pocket Calorie, Fat & Carb Counter. Aside from his writings, Mr. Borushek is actively involved in the ongoing development of calorieking.com; and his understanding of how timely information prompts people to lasting, positive behavior change, inspires product development at CalorieKing Wellness Solutions. Mr. Borushek has degrees in biochemistry, and clinical nutrition and dietetics. He is a member of a number of professional societies which include: The North American Association for the Study of Obesity (NAASO), the Society for Nutrition Education, the National Wellness Association, and the American Diabetes Association. Apart from his professional interests, Mr. Borushek is a family man currently enjoying being a grandfather to two young boys. This keeps him in touch with the challenges of real life.
